Hi Stacie:

Thanks for the article on eating right foods. I've found that eating dried cherries, or drinking cherry juice helps with the arthritis pain that I have. Thanks for the link.

Actually, I would prefer a diet of chocolate and lime doritos with a margarita and guacamole to accomplish everything Judy wants!

PS I almost forgot the chocolate chip cookies with milk.

I actually found a website...now I'm gonna have to dig for it... (and it might be outdated info) that beans, potatoes, pepers, tomatoes, mushrooms, wheat, red meat, and dairy are not good for lupus. that broccoli, cabbage, almonds, onion, garlic, ginger, celery, rashishes, berries and asparagus(i'm sure i'm missing a few food groups) were good things to eat because they don't trigger you immune system like the other foods...

but geeze, could you immagine eating only those foods? lol

I'm doing the gluten, dairy, red meat, soy free thing. Its helps alot. but the silly part of it all is, those foods they listed on that web site as "trigger foods" make me swell up like there is no tommorow.... they really do aggravate my symtpoms. i am searching for that web site... actually there were several websites i found listing those foods as " bad". I started listing those foods down in that particular "diet for lupus" and found they correlate with the "get rid of candidia" diets ( you know, yeast).

is there a connection with yeast and symptoms?

i wish there was a survival guide for lupus....

oh i can empathize about the dough nut dreams... except mine are chocolate m&m dreams... i can't find chocolate that is dairy and soy free. or grill cheese sandwiches...with pickels...mmmm.... i write you this as i am eating lettuce, onions and some other healthy crud...when all i want is the pizza on the floor my kids are eating.

I haven't heard to stay away from beans, I've only seen the ones below and didn't even think about it when I posted the article.... brain fog. You poor thing I am sure it's hard to find chocolate that is soy and dairy free.

[quote]FOODS TO AVOID: Avoid alfalfa seeds and sprouts because they contain the amino acid L-canavanine, which provokes a lupus-like condition in monkeys and possibly humans. (Roberts & Hayashi, 1983) Avoid the nightshade vegetables (peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, white potatoes). These foods contain a substance called solanine, which can contribute to inflammation and pain. Avoid foods which are high in arachidonic acid such as animal meats, dairy, eggs, peanuts and nori seaweed.

The Lupus Book, by Dr Wallace, includes all legumes as things to avoid -- it seems many folks with lupus have actual allergies to peas, blank-eyes beans, etc etc.

I've had a reaction to them for the 40 yrs BEFORE lupus came along!

Tks Stacie,
Thats a good article. I wish I had the will power to eat right all the time. I can do it to an extent but, I have to have my night shades, veggies, chocolate and cokes on a pretty regular basis. I can eat the right foods, I just have to have the bad ones with them.... :-) .
