Hello everyone, I went to my neices baby shower. My sister had it at a very fancy dinner, 65 people were there all family and friends  some who, I haven't  seen in a very long time, it was very nice but  came home very tired. Two months ago my doc. wanted me to join wellness center wish I did this week, to build up my muscles so I don't loss to much musclemass. pretty sore but hope to overcome that.  I went to refill my perciption of quinacrine, the hosiptal that refills it does not have it and won't be in for a couple weeks. When I  seen my derm. yesterday she said I  would have to order it from Ca. She gives me the perciption I'm thinking my pharmacy will order it for me they don't do that, called my derm. back but she won't get my message untill monday. My pharmacy told me too google it but I'm not sure if I want to order online now I'm stuck with no med. which seems to be working for me and don't know what to do. Has anybody order online meds. Nobody has this med. in my area.  sad   Thanks

I do some of my husband's meds through our prescription insurance company and that has been okay, but as for ordering online from somewhere else I would avoid it. Try a major chain pharmacy like CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, even Walmart. Usually they can get the unusual meds within days rather than weeks. I wish I could help more.

I've never heard of the med and I'm sorry you are having a hard time getting it, especially if it was helping you. I'm just curious to know what it controversial about it?

Quinacrine was one of the first anti-malarial drugs used in the 30's, then came into it's poor reputation because it was used for non-surgical serialization, particularly in India and similar areas of the world.

You might ask your doctor about using Plaquenil (generic name Hydroxychloroquine Sulfate) -- that's the more current and safer anti-malarial that you'll notice a LOT of us are taking. It's very easy to find and has less severe side-effects -- seems to be the drug of choice for the majority of the rhuemys for treating lupus and arthritis.

Oh - I just went back and I see you are taking Plaquenil AND Quinacrine. How interesting. I wonder what the thinking is behind that?

Cheers,

Hi hippi: If you look up about quinacrine there is alot to read on it. I'm guessing the good verses the bad. I started this med. two month's ago, and have another refill I don't know how long I'll be on it, but it is helping me. Debbie
