Hi Everyone.  I went to the Georgia State Capitol on March 5 (long before the tornado) for the First Annual Lupus Awareness Day in Georgia.  I had to take the bus 'cause I can't drive that far, but it was worth it.  I met lots of nice lupies, posed with them on the front steps of the Capitol for a photo, and sat in the chamber gallery for the reading of the resolution.  Pretty cool.  I've been caring for my daughter's 2 cats while she's on college externship at Disney World until May 16 and we also are caring for her 2 Pomeranians for 2 weeks while their au pair visits her at Disney.  I've been busy!  Anyway, I've spent a few days in bed sad  unable to move from... you guessed it pain and fatigue.  I'm still working full time from home, taking leave when needed that is donated to me.  On a positive note, I've been trying to lose weight and I've lost 6 pounds in two months. Also, I've been working out on my Ab Lounger since October and can now do 50 "sit ups" without stopping (on the good days) tongue    Love, Butterflake

Butterflake,
I'm really impressed with your sit ups! I've have to call a tow truck to get me up off the floor! Sounds like a cool day at the State Cap! Glad you got to go! Hang in there and feel better soon! Judy

Hi Judy and Stacie. Thanks for the encouragement!  Re the Capitol, two members of the local Lupus Foundation decided Georgia needed its' own Lupus Awareness Day.  So they asked their state reps if an "official" day could be mandated.  The day was March 5 and a resolution was read at the Capitol declaring the first annual Lupus Awareness Day in Georgia. I got to sit in the chamber while it was read. Well worth the extra effort on my part!

Hi Rosie and Victoria.  Rosie, it would be great if I could lose 65 more lbs, but I try not to think about that.  At least I'm headed in the right direction for a change!  Victoria, I think the GA State Lupus Awareness Day is going to be every March 5.  Do you live near ATL?

Butterflake, the Lupus awareness day sounded great and I'm glad you got to go. I'm sory to hear you were feeling so poorly though and that you ended up in bed - I hate those kind of days.

Congrats on the weight loss and sit ups!!! It's hard work isn't it? Keep up the good work - I'm trying too.

Hey Hippi!  It sure is hard work.  As a lupie and former runner, I know you can relate to the perseverance it's taking.  Two months of 10 sit ups each day.  That's it- just 10 before I finally crept up to 20 sit ups.  It really feels like 50 is too much. I find myself skipping days at a time. I hate to back down, but I'm afraid I'll give up if I'm overwhelmed.  So, 50 sounds great (it's also my age), but I'm backing down to 30 so I'll "work-out" regularly.  Here's to lupies fighting the prednisone hungries and those nasty flares!!  Love, Butterflake
