My lupus affects my joints, skin, muscles, CNS & PNS, as far as the peripheral neuropathy the time of diagnosis it was affecting both legs.  (and no one really knew why I had lost the feeling in my chest). As well as many other painful effects I couldn't feel temperatures etc. Recently I've noticed my right hand doesn't "feel" the same as my left (feel as in touching stuff) it sort of like it's not my hand, my legs have gotten worse as well...i did the "pin test" on myself and you could basicly give me stitches and it wouldn't hurt. Also when i'm laying down or sitting I can't always tell where my legs are at. I can burn myself in the bath if i'm not careful, i don't know if i'm wearing socks...its a very very creepy feeling and it all happens so gradually Also my motor skills in the affected areas and very poor I feel like I can't totally control my toes etc.  I'm seeing my rheumy next month and I just know he's going to tell me to see my neurologist.  My question is does anyone have symptoms similar to these and if so do you know if it's brain related or peripheraly related? I'm either going to have to get another MRI or i'm going to have to take that horrible electricution needle test (EMG?).  Thank you in advance for your replies....i'm terrified that this might be getting worse.

Hi Smiles,
I'm sorry your having these awful problems. I bet your rheumy does send you to a Neurologist and you will probably need an EMG to see whats going on. I have had lupus CNS I have Neuropathy but, never had the kind of numbness like you describe. I hope you get some answers and relief very soon. I'm sure this is overwhelming for you. Please keep us updated and take care. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Catzz, wow that sounds horrible. I actually do get some numbness but not to the extent you mentioned. I have many times almost daily that I find myself pounding on my legs or hand or the bottom of my back trying to get (what feels to me like no circulation) things moving. I'm sure I would feel pins though or notice if the water was too hot. I did have an MRI done last month and the doctor said I was ok with my brain and that my meds were probably causing the problem. I hope your doctor can get to the bottom of this for you.
God Bless

Catz i do get that numbeness you describe, havent been to a rheumy in a while, had the tests at the neurologists, but it has worsened much since then. I like to burn myslef in the bathtub, I like hot water, but i cant tell if its too hot, until I get out and am beet red, I dont feel it, 4 years ago it was my left hand giving me most of my troubles, now its my right, which is not good, Im predominately right handed, can write with left too, but still, Im more skilled with right, and lately its been going numb alot, arms have been going numb. ANd I get alot of weakness, which really scares, me becasue I start to drop everything. I guess I have no advice for you, but your not alone. I need to new doctors, my last PCP quit, rheumy
