I have no clue how to create a poll, but since someone here brought up concern over plaquenil related eye problems I was hoping everyone who takes or has taken plaquenil could answer a couple of questions.

1. If you have taken plaquenil have you ever had eye related problems?
2. Has your eye doctor ever commented on how likely eye problems from plaquenil are? If so what did he/she say?
3. Have you personally ever encountered anyone who has had eye problems from plaquenil? If so how many people?
4. What did your rheumetologist tell you about the likelihood of eye problems from plaquenil?
5. Did you ask your pharmacist about it? If so what was the answer?

my answers
1. I haven't.
2. My eye doctor says it is extremely rare.
3. No I haven't.
4. My rheumy says it is extremely rare since they lowered the dosages of plaquenil used.
5. My pharmacist said it is still listed as a possible adverse reaction but he had never heard of anyone having problems.

1. I haven't.
2. My eye doctor says it is very rare but he has taken one patient off of it in his 20 years of prcatice..
3. I do not know anyone who has had eye problems with plaquenil.
4. My rheumy says it is rare, but, to be safe, she insists on check-ups every six months.

1. No problems
2. My eye doctor says it is extremely rare - he's never seen it in 30 yrs of practice, nor heard of it. He is in an well established office with about 10 other eye drs, so that means none of them have seen it.
3. I know apprx. 100 ppl who use plaquenil, some for very long periods, no one has ever had eye problems.
4. My rheumy says it is extremely rare since they lowered the dosages of plaquenil used, but wants eye check-ups once a year. He hasn't seen problems, and as a big-city lupus dr, has LOTS of patients using plaquenil.
5. Never asked my pharmacist - these big city ones don't have a lifetime of experiance, they only know what they read on the med sheets.
