I've yet to be diagnosed with anything but I'm just fact gathering at the moment :) Hopefully I can start getting some answers soon when I go see the rheumy in April.  I've got a question about your rashes when exposed to the sun.  When you are out in the sun and you get a rash, how long does the rash stay? I know that everyone is different on how they react.  Does your rash ever itch or burn?

When I get a rash, it usually just itches A LOT. It will last about 2-3 days, and then go away. I have never had a rash burn, just itch.

Hi Sherry, I don't remember my rash itching or burning but it's been a while since I've had one. I would usually get a lace like rash on my legs and one time I had one that kinda looked like hives or welts on my chest, still not sure if it was from the sun or Waterbabies sunscreen I put on while at Disney.

Thanks for your answers. I get these days where I feel like I'm flaring with........something! I don't know what I have yet but on those days, I feel majorly crappy. Well I was sitting outside on the swing and we had our first (fairly) warm sun of the season. I was wearing a jacket but the sun was shining on my chest. I started getting a prickly sensation. After a while I went back into the house and my chest was all red and blotchy. I didn't get a rash anywhere else since on the swing I have an awning and the sun was shining only on my chest. The rash lasted maybe 2 hours. It didn't really itch, just felt prickly. So anyway, I was just wondering how long your rashes last. I am having a heck of time with these rashes lately that it's driving me nuts because they come and go and have no rhyme nor reason!

Sherry, your rash from sun exposure sounds a lot like some of the ones I get. Mine don't really itch all the time either, but I can feel that they are there. If I haven't been out in the sun too long the rash might just last a few hours, but sometimes it can last a few days.

I really hope you get some answers from the rheumy. Take care

Hi Sherry,
The type rashes your getting sound alot like the ones I started getting way before I was dx'd. They started out just like yours. If I was only in the sun for a short time they would go away quick. If I laid out in the sun, the more I was out the longer the rash stayed. They would hang around from hours to days and weeks. They would also itch and burn.  Mine were always on the face, chest, forearms and thighs. Depending on what areas were exposed.
I hope you get some answers and relief soon. Please keep us updated and take care. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
