Do any of you have any problems with your teeth? The very first sign that my health was going south, was when out of the blue I had a molar break apart. That was followed by another cracked tooth and off and on sensitivity. I never had cavities prior to Lupus or any other problems with my oral health.

My dentist swears it's some response to my health, but the Rheumy says "not really". He said that maybe I am grinding when I sleep due to the joint pain, etc. I got a mouth guard just to be safe yet teeth are still bugging me. Just currious if anyone else has these issues along with their Lupus diagnosis.

I've had a couple of cavities since being dx, hadn't had one since I was like 8 years old. I always thought it had something to do with Sjogrens, but you never know what lupus can do to our bodies. Hang in there, take care

Oh my, do I have problems with my teeth. I'm a huge fanatic when it comes to taking care of my mouth, and since I started taking medications for my lupus, the health of my mouth has seriously declined. My gums ALWAYS bleed when I brush and floss. For awhile, they were even bleeding while I slept. My gum line has receeded in front of one of my teeth to point where you can see the root. Amazingly, it doesn't hurt at all.

I tried having a root scaling done a couple years ago. After the first appointment, which they did the left side and front of my teeth, I bled for 36 hours. The ER doctor put tea bags on my gums to get them to stop bleeding; it didn't work. He finally put some strips on them that are used in surgery to stop bleeding. Why he didn't try that first is beyond me, because those worked great. My rheumy told me it was because I was on methotrexate and prednisone; they thin the blood out. I'm under strict orders not to let a dentist touch my gums again.

Since that fiasco, my gum line in the bottom front pulls away from teeth; so now when I clean my mouth, I have to use this thing that looks like a syringe to spray into the gum line to make sure it gets clean. I hate my mouth.

Hi Ti,
My mouth has been a mess for awhile now. There's always something going on with my teeth. I wish I could afford to have a full mouth of implants!
I'm sorry your dealing with this problem too. I hope you get some relief soon. Hang in there and take care. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I've suddenly got two molars that they tell me have cracks in them. Thing is, I don't feel any pain when eating, and they are the molars that get the most use. I can't figure out if I really need to have them capped or not!

Cheers,

Well I might say the samething on my first molar the was supposedly cracked, I never felt it, but i trusted the dentist. but the next two I could tell.
One it hurt so bad, I had tohave root canal after he did crown, so he had to go back a redo crown,
Had I known how much pain and cost it would have been I would have had him pull the tooth, its the last one, not like no one gonna notice it missing, in hindsight thats what i should have down, would have been less painful, and cheaper.
My husband still making payments on it. Our insurance only covers so much. Third Molar I could see the crack verry well, but it didnt hurt, again maybe I should have left it alone until it did hurt then have him pull it, back molar. I mean you cant see it, and so costly. Except this time since its a new year I think Insurance covered it..whew.
How many of you out there have your fillings fall out often, not the silver ones but the white ones, mine are falling out like 2 months after he does them. Some a little longer. sometimes he doesnt re-charge me, if its real soon. But some of them fall out so easily, is anyone else having that problem? confused
