Hi--
I've been having this stupid horrible groin pain which coincides witht areas where I have lost pigment. It feels like my legs are being torn off, even on pain meds. It hurts really bad. I know I have some calcified lymph nodes there. Also I wondered if the non-destructive pain I get in my knees, esp. after being out in the sun, can also affect my hip joints? I had an x-ray two years ago and it looked fine. The only place my arthritis is bad and destructive is in my back. Can this pain be lupus joint pain? it's only on one side now, but I get it on the other side sometimes, but not both at the same time usually.

On another note, I hope you are all doing well as can be. I have an appt with Mayo hepatology/transplant center for evaluation and am hoping they will get to the bottom of my autoimmune disease, polyendo dysfunction, and do the back surgery I need. Other than that, I've been really good! I've been focusing on my liver for a while and I'm glad I did because it is getting me to Mayo, and that will help.

I missed all of you but just thought I should get another perspective on my illness(es) for a while and focus on the liver, since I am seeing signs of it in my son.

Love you all, Marji

I have nerve damage in the hip/groin area and the pain is so bad that none of the oral pain meds I have been given work. Only nerve blocks work. The pain shoots down into my leg on the affected side. It is entirely possible that you have some nere compression, inflammation, or damage from the lymph node thing or just because your body decided to attack it.

I hope you get the answers you need at the Mayo clinic, I have low level autoimmune liver involvement but it is controlled with Imuran quite easily though it is what took out the gallbladder. I wish I could help you more than telling you about my own nerve issues but it just sounds a lot like mine- but I don't have enough pigment to lose any except in my hair (I am so white people think I am a ghost at night unless they know me- apparently my skin shows up really well with very low/no lights cause I scared the heck out of several people).

I had a lot of hip and lower back pain, my rheumy said it could be from lupus or degenerative. She put me on Methotrexate and said if the med helped, it was from lupus if not it was degenerative. Luckily I have found it's working for me and I am sleeping without so much pain.

I hope you get some relief soon! Take care

I agree with Stacie....groin pain is usually coming from your hip.  Get it checked out.  Take care.

Thanks, I can't take methotrexate, but I think a shot of cortisone might help, or a pred taper.

If nothing else works ask for a referal for a nerve block. They actually inject local anisetic (sp) and steroid right at the nerve. It can work wonders if the problem is a nerve issue.

Thanks redrose, I had one years ago and it lasted for an entire year or two, but then my back wasn't so bad then.

Hey, what can I take over the counter that is best for joint pain, the ultram isn't doing anything and I'm trying not to take pred before my mayo appt next week. Would Aleve work or Ibuprofin or Aspirin or tylenol? My knee is hot and swollen and hurts bad and my groin is the same way, just on one leg now. Which works best for arthritis pain?
