Hi Everyone:

Well, I just wanted to give a quick update and request some positive energy and prayers for tomorrow. Tomorrow 6/10/2008 I'll be going into the hospital at 7:30 for a 10:00 am heart catherization. My pulmonary doctor isn't sure how bad my pulmonary hypertension is. The previous heart cath done in Dec 2005 showed I had high pressures, but didn't say how high. The special heart Cat Scan I had done in March of 2008 also showed that I have high pressures in my heart.

So tomorrow my cardiologist will do a heart cath. She said depending on which test my pulmonary doctor wants done, the procedure could take 45 minutes or up to 2 hours. If we have to do the 2 hour test it puts me at a higher risk. Since I had troubles with the previous heart cath, (I lost 2 units of blood and had a huge hematoma) she's going to keep me over night in the hospital.

Hopefully, all will go smoothly tomorrow and I'll be home at a decent time on Wednesday. I hope that I'll be feeling alright and don't end up needing 2 units of blood tomorrow. Thanks for your well wishes, energy, and prayers in advance. I hope you all are doing well and are feeling better. I'm looking forward to meeting those of you who are coming to Atlanta on the weekend of the 21st of June.

Take care ya'll and I can't say thanks enough for being my friend.

Hugs,
Barb

Hey there -

Got home at 4:30 am today (Monday) and am sorry I haven't gotten a chance to catch up with you personally. Been doing some sleeping, napping, and trying to catch up today.

I'm glad the procedure is scheduled and I hope and pray all will go smoothly -- hopefully they will be able to gather some good information that helps them in determining the next right steps in helping you get better and feel better.

I'm glad they'll keep you overnight and keep an eye out for any complications -- safety first!

Barb,

I had hoped to talk to you today, but I to have been busy doctoring and we didn't connect. You are in my thoughts and prayers always, but even more so tomorrow. I am meeting my colorectal surgeon at the hospital tomorrow to do exploratory surgery to hopefully find my abscess/fistula and open it. Mine is day surgery, so I will be home tomorrow night. I hope all goes well for you tomorrow, and that you have the 45 minute procedure and not the 2 hour one. Kay said she would post as soon as she hears from you, so I will watch for that so I know how you are. Take care my friend. Love ya!

Hello everyone,

Barbara just called and her procedure is complete. It went well with no complications, so the hospital is thinking about sending her home later today (after she rests on her back for 5 hours), but she & hubby think she should stay in overnight.

The pressures were elevated, but not nearly as high as they had feared. In fact, they are so borderline that it's still unclear as to whether they will need to do any treatment now -- they might stick with the "wait and see' method.

Barb sounded tired, but good. I suspect there was still some sedation on board....

And that's the report for now,

Lynnwood, thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear that things went as well as they did. I hope if Barb wants to stay overnight, they let her.

Lynn, tks for the update on Barb.

Barb, I got your message earlier when you called. I was at work and just tried to call you back and for some reason my cell phone won't let me call out right now. They must be having signal problems. I will try to call you later if I don't see you online. You rest and take care. Hopefully, they will get all this stuff figured out for you soon and give you some kind of relief.....(((Gentle Hugs))). You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hello All:

Thanks for all your well wishes and posts. I'm sorry I haven't responded sooner but I've been in a huge flare all week long. I was flaring before the procedure and now my flare is worse. I'm unable to keep any food in me between nausea and the big "D" I'm spending lots of time in the bathroom. The site were they went in is healing nicely and I'm thinking because the pulmonary hypertension is only mild that my pulmonary doctor won't be putting me on medication for it.

I'm going to keep resting and hoping I'm feeling much better before Friday the 20th, since that's the day I leave for our get together in Atlanta, GA. I'm anxious to meet everyone that's coming to Atlanta. Thanks for your well wishes and I'll be in touch soon.

Love,
Barb
