I'm completely and throroughly digusted w/ my job. I am not happy what so ever....b/c within a matter of a year I have been in and out of the ER.  I think my job and all the unnecessary stress that goes along w/ it is making me sick to the point where my Lupus is flaring up like crazy.  Does any one know if it would be possible for me to leave my job due to stress related illness??? Like, is there a disability claim I can use to get out of this crappy job I'm stuck in????

*I've been prescribed other drugs, but I don't like how they make me feel..Sulfalalazine especially!!!
Vitamins:  Vitamin C, E and "Hair, skin & nails" vitamins.

Usual mood: exhausted w/ a side of irratation. >:-p

Outlook: keep everything in prespective, take the day as it comes. God won't give you more than you can handle

meek's... I'm sorry you are are going through this being so sick. I went out on short term disability from work, pick up long term when I first started at my job. Check to see if you have short or long term disability from work, if not maybe the state that your in can help you. Debbie

Meeks, it stinks that your job is so stressful and that the stress is causing you to get so sick. Your doctor can help you take a medical leave of absence if you really think you need a break. A leave of absence would give you time to see how you do away from work. It's worth talking to your doctor about.

Meds:  Plaquenil 400mg; Prednisone 5-10mg; Tramadol 100mg 3-4x daily; Doxepin 25-50mg; Prevacid; Evoxac; Steriod Cream and Mouth Rinse for tongue and mouth ulcers; Hydrocodone 5/500 prn for severe pain; Artificial tears

First, you should have your doctor write a statement to your employer requiring a medical leave. While on medical leave, apply for disability from the social security administration. I had to do this back in 2000 because my job was causing too much stress, and I was home sick more than I was at work. Getting the disability made it a lot easier to quit working. Granted, it's not as much as I was making while working, but my husband works so it's enough to help us get by.

dix: lupus sle Jan. '99, hypo-thyroid Mar. '06
rx: pred. 5mg/day, plaquenil 200mg/day, levothyroxine .112mg/day, premarin .45mg/day, methotrexate 7.5mg/week, folic acid 1mg/day

I have good days and very bad days on the job, mostly bad. some days i just want to give up and some days I feel great. sometimes just walking up the stairs depresses me so bad that i constantly think about quiting my job, being sick all the time, and feeling so weak makes everyday life a very difficult task. I would say 80 percent of the time i wish i didn't have to work, so I feel your pain, and I too desperately need a break from work. mygrljes you have a very good idea I think i am going to look into doing that thanks for the help.

Hi everyone.....I was dx with Lupus April 2007 and lyme disease Aug 2007. I've been sick for 14 yrs and though it was tough to get through the bad days, I was ok working.

This last yr, working has been tougher and tougher. My job is very stressful and the building I work in is infested with toxins and the people I work with are the most negative bunch.
I took a one month disability leave when my Rheum put me on Plaq. Then I went back to work for 6 months, went on treatment for lyme and took another 3 months off. Went back to work for 3 more months and like you, I had it! I had to leave my job. I was so stressed just getting ready at 5am, getting my lunch ready and then sitting in 45 mins of traffic both ways. It was terrible. I went back to my rheum 2 weeks ago and that was it, he put me back on disabilty for another 3 months.

Had I seen this post a yr ago, I would have said "hang in there", but now that I see how much not working can help with healing, I say "take some time off"
