My sister invited my family to her condo for the weekend, but I'm not sure if I want to go. I went there last summer and was in a flare. I thougt I did everything right so that would'nt happen. I  feel like a party pooper. My family really wants to go. I just get so run down. I want to go just to get away and relax not to think of anything just enjoy.  I feel like I'm holding them back. I will decide tomorrow. Thanks for listening. Debbie

I just went to the beach about a month ago with my husband and son and it was really great. Even the days I didn't get out of bed much. Sometimes it just helps to have different walls to stare at! Is there a quiet place you can rest and escape from the commotion when you need to? Does everyone understand that you will need peace and quiet and can't always participate? If so, I would definitely recommend going. On the other hand, if you will be on the couch in the middle of all the activity all the time, and arguing about why you can't do the things you can't, I'm not so sure. That might just be more exhausting. Maybe you could talk with everyone and tell them you need a quiet place to rest and understanding about your limitations. I'm really hoping that you can go. It did me a world of good to just get away for a bit. Good luck with your decision (and hopefully your trip).

My sister has two condo one she lives in all summer and one she rents I will be in her rental. So I can rest with no noise. Yes they understand how I feel. They like to go crabbing, walk the boardwalk which I do to, but when I don't feel good I do go back and rest. They always ask if I'm ok do you want to go back, so I feel they worry to much about me. I just want them to do what they want and not have to worry about me. I'll just go to beach with sunscreen and long sleeves chair and enjoy reading some good books. Thanks!!! Debbie

Debbie, I'm so glad you've decided to go. Your family sounds caring and understanding. It's so nice just to sit on the beach and listen to the sound of the waves coming in. It's so relaxing. Reading a good book is always a great escape too. To have your own separate condo is really a plus. To be staying in place that is packed with too many people could be stressful, but your arrangement sounds perfect! Have a wonderful time, you deserve a chance to get away.

Have fun Debbie! I can certainly understand your concerns about a flare. I know that going away for a few days is hard. You must pack, flying or driving is hard on you, not sleeping in familiar surroundings is not as restful, etc, etc! And, then, you must travel back home! Did I mention all the accumulation of laundry? Yep. Been there. I understand your dilemma but hope you will have fun, too!

(PS - Do you have an umbrella for the beach? We take a big umbrella for me and I use a small beach chair, sunscreen, hat, long sleeves, etc, along with my good book or magazines.)

Enjoy!
Prayers,
Audrey Ann

When I was young I loved what we called "Midnight swimming" we would wait until it got dark and go for one last swim before bedtime-My sisters and I loved it the water always felt like warm silk since the air was cooler then. If I were you I would go but stay inside resting during the day and offer to supervise midnight swim for any young ones or just initiate a midnight swim if you're all adults. Walks on the beech also get better at night-I think lots of fun can be had sleeping durning the heat of the afternoon and playing once the sun goes down.
Enjoy your trip.

Debbie, I'm glad you decided to go. I know you don't want the other people to worry about you, but it is nice that they understand that you can't do everything and that you need to rest. Just take it as an opportunity to get away and rest as much as you need and to also enjoy a few quiet activities.

I feel the same way that you do every year before we go on vacation. In one way I really look forward to it, but on the other hand, I stress about flaring and not being able to do much and holding my family back.

Let us know how things go. I hope you have a very nice relaxing time. Take care.

Debbie,

I recently went to Mexico and enjoyed some very careful snorkeling and very shaded beach vegging. I purchased (online) a "skin suit" that is UV protective and covered me from my neck down to my toes and even over my hands (I bought a man's size so it would have long arms). I highly recommend it if you are determined to be in the water.

I was extremely careful about timing too so I wasn't out in the extreme times of day.

I hope you have a great time!!

Blessings!

I went last year and got up early in the morning and went for a walk on the beach - then hung out all day on the shaded porch reading. I then went back out walking on the beach at sunset. I seemed to do fine and it was a very relaxing trip!

Hi Debbie,
I'm also glad you decided to go and have a quiet, relaxing time. It's always good to get away from the normal everyday routine for a bit. Keep resting and take care. Hopefully, you won't have a flare from this. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
