Well had the study done they put the leeds all through head, he scrap the scalp where he had to put the leeds not bad, then wipe chin, forehead, side of face with alcohol to make sure it was clean to put leeds on,irratated my skin. Turn lights out 10:30 wake you up at 5:30. Didn't sleep much woke up 5 times. Skin is still irratated and I'm very tired since I didn't sleep. I do have sleep (apnea) not sure if that is the right spelling. So now I wait for doc. to call. Now I will enjoy my own bed need some sleep. Debbie

They scraped your scalp??? Uh oh . . . the adhesive on your face . . . sorry. That would leave me with an itchy rash for a long time. Alcohol first? Even worse. Sorry.

I hope the treatment for the sleep apnea brings you some better sleep. Let us know what the doctor orders. C-Pap???

Blessings!

Yep Rosie.. Can you believe they did that knowing I have lupus which you can tell by the molar rash. They put the leeders on your upper jaw to see if you grind your teeth. So many wires. Then about 2hrs. later I had to pee unhook me took all the wires with me what a trip. Had to laugh at my self with all the wires hanging on me.

hippi...You don't get any sleep your so uncomfortable!!!

LOL . . . what an image!! Sometimes I have to use the bathroom 3x a night. Always 2x . . . I think I'll be avoiding the sleep study. . . . but I guess this is one of those issues of "no pain . . . no gain". I'm looking forward to seeing if this helps your docs give you some good, sound sleep.

Blessings!

Joinery,
My sleep study is scheduled for July 11th and I have to go back on the 18th. Did you have to go twice? I wonder what that's all about? I'm not looking forward to it at all. Did they put a hospital gown on you? Thanx Judy

Hi judy
That is odd, never heard of that!! I know a couple of people who went and they only went once. I brought my own stuff to sleep in but they had everything there if you needed it,juice, crackers pretzels to snack on. You need to take a shower when you wake up cause of the sticky stuff. I didn't bring a towel but should have I don't like hospital towels.I don't blame you for not wanting to go but it really isn't bad you just can't sleep good. I did sleep when I got home. I thought I would flare but didn't thank god. Let us know how you made out with the study. Good Luck. Debbie

Some places go ahead and schedule a 2ond appointment assuming that you will have sleep apnea and that you'll need to come back to try again with a pressurized air machine. It always makes me think they are trying to sell something rather than acting like a medical service.

10:30-5:30 is only seven hours! That right there is a no-no for me. Let alone put me in a weird place like a hospital where they never turn all the lights off and there are always people moving around. Then all those leads and wires-I would not have been able to walk in the morning.
I hope you had a chance to catch up on some sleep since the,.

For the sleep studies they turn off the lights and close the door -- of course all the wires must stay and the beds & sounds aren't controllable...my favorite is if you happen to turn over they talk to you over the intercom and ask you to lay on your back. I *never* sleep on my back! It hurts!

Lynnwood is right you do have to sleep on your back. They also ask you the meds. your on so bring your list... I'll be thinking of you Thought and Prayers are comming your way!!! Debbie

Joinery,
Thanx so much! My mom told me don't be surprised if they call 911 because watching you sleep is scarey! LOL! I know i'm a poster child for apnea. I'm about to leave to go over there. We have to drive an hour, so my precious sister and her husband are going to get a room and stay in the same town with me! They take good care of me! I'll let y'all know tomorrow how it goes. God Bless, Judy

Well, I survived the sleep study!  I'm so glad that's almost completely behind me.  I have to go back next friday night.  When I got there, they didn't have hospital beds, they had regular beds.  I haven't slept in a regular bed in 2 years, I sleep in my recliner.  So, I had to sleep in a chair with my feet propped up on a stepping stool with a pillow on it.  My knees had no support!  But all in all, I guess I slept enough for them to assess the damage!  They were very nice.  I'll let y'all know the results when i find out.  I've got appointments like crazy this week;  labs Mon, nephrologist Wed (please pray), cardiologist Friday and then back to sleep lab Friday night! There goes my week!  Hope you are all well.  Love ya, Judy

Hi Debbie:

I've got mild sleep apnea, and I've got a cpap machine. However, I'm a stomach sleeper and I have a hard time sleeping with the mask on. My husband has a cpap machine and he sleeps on his back or side and it has made a huge difference in how he feels. I've discovered that a person can still be heard with the cpap on, with their snoring. I was hoping my hubbys snoring issue would be gone. It's better than it was, I'd say tolerable. I hope that they can get you fitted for you mask and that the cpap machine helps you.

Judy, I'm glad you were able to get your study done. Looking forward to hearing how the results are. I wish you well with and I sincerely hope that you're feeling better. I read your post about the PE and the blood transfusions. I hope that your anemia settles out and that you'll not need packed red blood cells again. I usually get 2 units of packed red blood cells about every 8 to 12 weeks. Of course it's the blood cancer that's sucking up all the blood.

Good luck to both of you ladies.

Take care,
Barb

When I'm in a deep sleep he said my oxygen goes down to 80 and comes back up after deep breath, that happen a couple times. He also said with the meds. and all my problem's can contrubute the cause. He wants to do another study with mask on to see how well I will sleep. I also found out I have restless leg syndrome which I never new I had only see that on tv commicals..lol. Debbie
