Hi Everyone,

I've noticed for about a month now that my legs feel very heavy and shooting pain to my hips. Also I've had charlie horses at least 3 times a week very painful. Was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what the cause of it is.Could it be a vascular problem?

Thanks,
Mary

Mary,
Prednisone causes me to have charlie horses. Also, have you had your electrolytes checked lately? When they are out of balance it can cause what you described. Judy

Eating bananas also helps with leg cramps. It's the potassium.

If you can handle eating a raw potato that can help too-if not (I can't) do it baked.

Here's something worth a try.

I've been tortured by excruciating, intractable leg cramps (charlie horses, if you will) for years. They keep me up all night sometimes.

I'm a plaquenil resister, but I've found that tonic water helps. It contains just a wee bit of quinine, supposedly not enough to make a difference, but somehow it has helped me.

I drink a can of tonic water every night with lots of ice and lemon wedges. Yummy! And it's been weeks since I spent the night waking up every hour or so with cramps. Yay
