Hey guys.......Just have a quick question.........My Rheumy has changed my meds and I am having a new symptom.....Not sure if it is a noted Lupus symptom or maybe just from the new meds.....or one that anyone has at all...........Hoping someone will have some input for me.....I hate running back to my Rheumy every time I have a new symptom..and this one is much more of a neusance then a concern.
Anyway.............I was on Plaquinel/celebrex and did a 90 day run of cytoxin.  She has now taken me off all three and put me on immuran and voltaren..........(also on morphine/reactin/adivan and a few other minor meds)  but been on all these for a long time.  I have recently been experiencing tingling kinda feelings............almost like something is crawling on me on different areas of my legs and arms....also on the edge of my nose at times.....feels like I have a bug or a small hair or something.....but when I look or rub the area there is nothing there.  More annoying then anything.  Anyone else ever have these feelings????

Thanx

Hi Cheekie,

YES!  The creepy crawlies are common to have with lupus, but more specifically Fibromyalgia.  I get them a lot and they drive me crazy.  For me it's from the Fibro.  Do you have that condition?  If you ask the ladies in the Fibromyalgia forum about the "creepy crawlies", you'll get a ton of responses!!

I take Imuran as well, and as far as I know, those symptoms are not a side effect of it. I've been on Imuran for over 8 years now.  Not sure about your other meds though.

So be reassured that it does happen to others!  Autoimmune diseases are wacko-bizzaro.  They create so many weird symptoms.

I have the 'creepy crawlies' all the time! I do not have fibro, just lupus. I first noticed them when I had cerebritis. I am trying to ramp down on steroids and they wake me up all night! I'd swear I have ants or spiders or something on my face and arms, but I don't! It drives me crazy! Judy

I have taken Imuran for years before this ever occurred!

Thanks so much Ginny and MJLD.............Thats exactly what it feels like.....ants or spiders.........just little creepy crawlies.  I know Lupus can have so-ooooo many different side effects.......but darned....sometimes I am afraid to mention new things that happen.  Seems everyone says things like "oh so sorry to hear that"....or "hope it gets better".....but if you look deep in there eyes......its at times almost like it is a fake patronizing "hope you feel better" look........almost as though............"whats NOT wrong with you".  Its nice to talk with other Lupies.......I know they are going through the same thing and know I am not just a hypocondriac.  But I must say these creepy crawly feelings are most annoying..........Is it a nerve problem???  And do you ladies know if anything helps with them???

Thanks for your replies

Hi Cheeki, have you had your B12 checked? I am like you and hate telling my doctor (rheumy or PCP) of every little problem going on.... good grief sometimes I would be there all day! Although it had been happening for while I did on this visit talk to her about this weird pain in my feet when I crossed my legs, almost like they had fallen asleep. She said it sounded like a nerve problem and checked my B12. It wasn't so low that I was deficient but low enough to start me on a supplement (Folgard OS). I have noticed a slight improvement in the weird sensation.

See the link below for low B12 symptoms:

thyroid.about.com/cs/newsinfo/l/blb12anemia.htm

It may be a shot in the dark but it's a simple test and may be worth mentioning to your doctor! Take care and let us know if they figure it out. :-)

<Edited to make link active, but still wouldn't work. Goto thyroid.about.com, search for b12, look at the first result>

Sweet Cheekione,
I know exactlly how you feel. You said it well. I'm so paranoid that someone will think i'm a hypochondriac! But, when you have a couple of "little" things that turn major, you learn to tell it all! Judy

I get that sensation all the time!!! I'm a neat freak mainly because I hate bugs, and I get that creepy crawly sensation at night, throw back the cover and search the bed only to find nothing there. LOL It's the craziest thing and you can't ignore it because the one time you do, it's a tick or something gross like that.
