I woke up this morning and my left leg is all messed up.  I can barely walk.  I think it is coming from my back but not sure.  I checked my blood pressure and it is okay(thought I might have had a stroke, don't think so).  Anyway, it is heavy feeling and my toes are tingling when I walk.  The leg feels real heavy from my knee down and my foot feels like it is on its side.  I don't know hard to describe.  It has stayed this way for about 3 hours now.  I guess if it is still this way tomorrow I will be going to see the doctor.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,
Mary Ann

NanaBee, I don't know what could be going on with your knee, but if you think there's even a 1% chance that it could be a stroke, please have someone take you to the ER ASAP, or call 911. Strokes are nothing to fool around with or to wait and see about. It's just not worth the risk. It's so easy to second guess ourselves when we think there's something wrong but aren't really sure.

I hope everything is ok, but please get some answers and let us know how you are.

Thanks, Patty.  I am doing better as the day goes by.  I took my blood pressure and it isn't elevated at all but that doesn't mean it couldn't have gone up during the night.  I am going to call my doctor tomorrow and let her know what happened.  I just stopped taking one of my blood pressure meds a month ago(with doctor approval), maybe I need to start it again.

I'll keep you posted.

Thanks,

Mary Ann

Mary Ann--
It's important you get to the doc, even walk in, as soon as you can. One thing you can do is take the blood pressure in your leg. Is it cold? Do you have pigment problems? It sounds like some of the commercials describe about a deeper blood vessel problem. I have some vascular problems in my leg and I don't want to lose my left leg. I also have some problems on that side of my heart.

Nerve problems can be bad too, you can have a bad fall from them. But I also have that falling asleep, heaviness, skis for foot type problem and its nots necessarily from my back. The docs do things like take the pulse in different areas of the leg and foot. The jury's still out but they have mentiioned autoimmune vasculitis in the past.

I hope you feel better.

Well, I went to see my doctor today and she wants me to have an MRI first thing tomorrow morning.  She tested my reflexes and my left side is weak.  She wants to rule out a TIA (mini stroke).  I still think it might be from my back but she said I shouldn't be weak like I am.  Oh well,  I guess we'll see what happens with the MRI

NanaBee,
I'm glad you saw your doc. I think the MRI is an excellent idea! Let us know how things come out! Love, Judy

Oh NanaBee I hope it wasn't a TIA. But we always wish for negative test results no matter what, don't we. My mother had lots of TIAs and I never saw any residual effects from them but I'm certainly not an expert. You're smart to have gone right in. I don't have to ask you to let us know as soon as you get the results.

((((Hugs)))))

Nanabee, I'm glad you are getting good tx. I had something like that where my arm was numb for a few days and they think I had a mini stroke. It's good to get it checked out.

I got the results of my MRI and they were normal.  Yeah!!!  I guess my back is messed up but I already knew that.  I will just do some more exercises and stop picking up my 1 year old grandson.  I think that is probably what is irritating my back.  Hopefully, that will help the leg move better.
