Last Sunday I notice this fluid filled blister on the top of my big toe right where the middle joint is.  It's about the size of a dried pea.  It isn't a friction blister because I've only had flip flops on.  I did wear a pair of sandles this past week and it rubbed the blister which caused some bleeding, now it's just red and looks like it's drying up.  BUT Friday I noticed one just above that one, right below the nail, and another one on the middle toe in the same spot.  They still look the same and fluid filled.  I think one is beginning on the top of my foot just below where the toe joints stop.  They itch if irritated and when I take a shower or bath.

Any ideas of what this might be?  I haven't gotten bitten by anything. I'm allergic to poison ivy/oak so it would be far worse by now if it was that.  I'm baffled.

Hi Jeannie, are you taking any new meds? If it continues you may want to see or skin specialist. It could be related to lupus. I do get water blisters out of no where some times but not like you discribed. Try using some aveeno oatmeal soap. It works really well for me.

Thanks Carol. I did switch from Prevacid to Protonix two weeks ago. I'll see if I can find anything on that.....hadn't even thought about meds. Take care of yourself!

Hi Jeannie,

I'm a lurker but I wanted to post a reply to your question.

I've gotten these "things" on my toes for several years.  With me this is usually the sign of a little flair up.  From what my rheumy told me they are due to lack of circulation or raynauds.  I'm not sure if you have raynauds but I know I do and my feet are constantly purple or grey.  This might not be the case with you but when I sleep and it's just a little chilly I have to sleep with socks on b/c that's when I seem to lose the circulation in my feet the most.  Since I've been wearing socks to bed I don't get the little buggers on my feet as much.

Good luck! :-)

Thank you fredsmom. I have mild Raynaud's....at least I think it's mild because my hands don't turn colors as much as the pictures I have seen on the internet. I am flairing though so maybe there is a connection. I'm going to call my rheumy and see if he wants to look at them.

Thanks again!

Hi Jeannie,

You could have some mild athlete's foot. That would have blisters as you've described, plus itching. There are some good OTC antifungal meds that would help a lot, if that's what it is. Just a thought.

Blessings!
