Hellooooooo,

Okay.  I can't stay on the Tramacet.  I get so drowsy, I can't even function.  So I need a new pain med that won't make me so sleepy.  I have to take a benzodiazapine (tranquilizer) with my morning and evening meds. It's my old seizure medication that I'm STILL trying to taper off of.  So that combined with the Tramacet is why I'm so dopey..... Bad mixture.

Any recommendations? I won't do a narcotic....

ginny, I don't know of anything that would work on your pain that isn't narcotic. I don't know if you can take anti inflammatories and I'm not sure how much they'd help since you said this is your fibro flaring and not your lupus. The only other thing I know of is the possibility of Lyrica since it is supposedly the only med in the US that is approved specifically for fibro pain and fatigue. I'm pretty sure it;s similar to neurontin and I'm not sure how that would work with you already being on seizure meds. It would be worth asking your doc about.

It's too bad the tramacet is making you so drowsy. I really hope you find something that helps since being in pain is exhausting and hard to cope with after so long. Hang in there and take care.

Meds:  Plaquenil 400mg; Prednisone 5-10mg; Tramadol 100mg 3-4x daily; Doxepin 25-50mg; Prevacid; Evoxac; Steriod Cream and Mouth Rinse for tongue and mouth ulcers; Hydrocodone 5/500 prn for severe pain; Artificial tears

Hey Ginny!!

idea I have an idea!! (I could not wait to use this emoticon!!)

If you can tolerate Ibuprofen . . . you can bump up the pain relieving affect by taking a tylenol with it. I don't know why it can work so well . . . but it often does. smilewinkgrin

As always . . . clear the combo with your doc first. Some meds also include caffeine to heighten the affect of the pain relieve so there is another idea (coffee with med . . . shocked ha haaaa!!!)

I hope you have less pain soon!!

Blessings!
