Hey Everyone.. Just thought Id update because I havent been on in awhile. I have now been on Methotrexate for a few months and its working great. I am now not as tired as I used to be and the joint pain has been limited. So far my Sophmore year of high school has been going good. I have been to school everyday for the last 3 weeks waking up at 5:00 without to much of a problem. Another thing that recently happend was I had toe surgery on both of my toes. For an ingrown toe nai which I have been getting over and over. They could not numb my feet like a normal person because of the Raynauds so it was a little painful once the dose wore off. Another thing Im really excited about is I can play basketball this year !!!!!!! My Rhumey said yes. But I still have my limits. Its been 5 months since I have played.. Im hoping I can make varsity again. Latley everything has been pretty great.. just lots of homework from all my honors classes. Just hoping I can get through this year...
Medications: Prednisone 7.5mg. Plaquenil 300mg. Methotrexate. Naproxen (for pain). Multivitamin. Calcium. Fish Oil. Vitamin D.

Hi bigsanfer,

I am SO happy to hear your news! I had a great big smile on my face as I was reading it. You're way too young to have be sick and not get to do all the things teenagers are supposed to get to do. How great that you're going to play basketball this year. If you don't make varsity this year, you'll be in good shape to try again next year! It sounds like you have a real good support system and that you listen to your body.

Thanks for letting us know and keep up the good work. tongue tongue tongue

Good for you. I think you have the best attitude - and that MUST be contributing to your feeling better.

Enjoy the heck out of everything - I know we "old people" are always saying that these are "the best times of your life", but they really are! Good Luck with basketball!
Take care,

Basketball...honors classes...getting up at 5:00!!! Does anyone believe you have Lupus?! You sound like an incredible and ambitious teenager! Kudos to you for doing it all. I am a person who wants to do it all and doesn't want anything to stop me, and I just want to say that you sound alot like me. Recently I was given the go ahead to begin weight lifting again-which is big for me as I am a firefighter and need more muscle to do the job-I haven't been able to life for almost a year, but was able to do cardio to keep my body healthy. Anyways, I have found it easy to get back into and hard to not overdo it-but you figure it out. I'm sure you will do the same. Good luck on the b-ball team.
