This is probably my biggest complaint with prednisone- ie feeling like I have pms times 8 million and blowing up at everything. Please make sure you take stock of your moods and I have become suicidal for no apparent reason on a dose of 15mg. What has worked for me is lexapro. Thanks to work done by OBGYNs re: antidepressants and pms/mood disturbances etc, it has been found that you can take antidepressants for a short period of time and they can help stabilize your moods. For me, if I am on a higher dose of prednisone I am given sample packs of lexapro and I increase my dose for 5 or so days and usually that is enough to level me out.

Best of luck!

LOL . . . its so easy to select the wrong button!! I've done that and lost big long posts!!! Now I know to hit the "back arrow" button to get stuff back. You are truly "one of us".

I have the rage & moodiness at times while on the prednisone --

I find if I manage to eat well-balanced meals at regular times, do my best to get some regular restorative sleep, and avoid doing too many things in one day it drastically cuts down on these unwelcome moods!

My friends have all learned to ask if I need to eat (protein) or a nap if I get too outrageous!

Cheers,

I'm sorry you've had that reaction, but it's good that you've found a solution that helps you! I personally have never had any mood problems on pred, it just makes my whole body feel normal again, including my moods. But that is just me, I know everyone can have different reactions.

Oh I am sorry anyone has any adverse effects from the prednisone. The only time I had any issues were anytime I tried to taper. My Internist told me when the symptoms return to go back up 5mg then try to taper again. I can't get below 20mg though. I see her on the 29th so I guess I can keep trying half a tablet taper til then. I don't know why she wants me off the pred so bad though. she said she didn't want me on plaquinil because of the myelofibrosis and the damage it would do to my bone marrow??? so the pred is fine by me tongue

the only rage I've had since starting the pred though was only directed at a Houston Astro's outfielder that kept catching all my Cubbies hits! devil So the kids are safe!

Anyway I am a very angry person lately. I've been on steroids for years though. I fight with my family alot. I used to put a enter at your own risk on my door but recently I just don't care and I seem to let the fur fly. I have a pcp appt weds. I'll have to ask about that.
