Today may have been stressful in many ways but some good came of it. I saw the kidney specialist and though I have massive edema my kidneys appear to currently be fine. He wants to watch me though and to keep me on lasix long term in an effort to get rid of the fluid. He also wants me off prednisone, don't we all, but said that is my rheumy's area and he won't mess with her stuff.

I had my MRI wednesday night and survived. I see the neuro consult the 10th and my rheumy the 13th. I also have to find a dentist because one of my teeth broke. Lovely huh? Oh well, at least I have my teeth considering my family that is a big deal. Well, I am off to eat a lonely dinner of sweet and sour pork.

Redrose, LOL!!! You must be from down home! People around here get all their teeth pulled and dentures because they don't like brushing them! Only problem is, they never get around to the dentures!

Be careful on the tooth breaking and make sure you get some recent blood work. Hypoxia, lack of oxygen, caused four of my teeth to crumble all at the same time (molars) after pneumonia that nearly killed me. Then there's the calcuim thing too.

I'm happy your kidneys are fine and make sure they check your liver and heart good too. I had problems with lasix and my grandma went deaf from it and got real squirrely, as did I, so be careful. I'm on HCTZ because the lasix didn't work.

I'm glad your kidneys are good. I hope everything is good with the little one and the rest of the family.
Love, Marji

Thanks. This was a visit I put off for a very long time because I was worried the news would be worse. As it is I think I can handle being at risk of kidney disease when the news is I don't have a serious problem right now. I wish I had more energy. I could use about 20 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

Oh, and I lost 10lbs in a week.

I can't see the dentist until my husband's inheritance comes because we have to pay 20% of the repair. Meantime I used a temporary filling.

Redrose . . .

If there is a dental school in your area, that might be a great resource for you. I have my teeth cleaned twice a year at a local college where they teach Dental Hygienists (they clean, do fluoride treatment, xrays, a dentist does a check up and I get free dental supplies), all for $6.00. If I do need work done on my teeth, they will give me the xrays to take with me. My sister even has her dental work done at Case Western Reserve University Dental School. It is a bit of a drive, but well worth it.

Blessings!
