Hi everyone.  First, let me appologize for not being very good about letting people know what was going on with me.  Patty has e-mailed me several times and has been good about giving some updates on the forum for me - thanks Pat :-) .
I've just had a rough time lately and can't seem to get healthy.  Starting in October I got a nasty case of the flu and it took me about 3 weeks to recover from it.  Then I went on to get two upper respiritory illnesses back to back and am just getting over the second one now.  Of course all of this has made my lupus flare too, so I've just been feeling rotten most of the time.  Then last week I got severe tooth pain and got a molar extracted on Friday and now I'm pretty sure I have dry socket (very painful).  I've had teeth pulled before but never had dry socket.  I wonder if my lupus or the meds makes healing more difficult
I see my rheumy again on the 18th of this month and we'll see how I'm doing then.
I have done some things I've enjoyed too through this whole thing.  I learned to use my sewing machine and have been doing some fun little sewing projects with my kids.  My daughter and I even made a little quilt together.  It's something that doesn't take a lot of energy when I am feeling up to it.
I'll try to catch up with things here and I'll try to check in and post more often.  I've thought about all of you a lot and missed all of you.  I also think I had my head in the sand a little too, trying to ignore being sick which doesn't make much sense since I have been more sick than usual.

Hippi!!! So glad you're back!  You've had quite a time this last month or so haven't you?  UGH, dental issues are the worst.  When I had my surgery, my surgeon said that because I was on prednisone it might take a bit longer to heal.  You and I are on similar doses, so that might be the reason for you too.
I think the flu and colds are really going around right now.  I'm relieved to hear that you are recovered from all that.  But it took long enough didn't it.....
Sending you lots of hugs, prayers and positive thoughts sis.

Hey Hippi, I'm so glad you're back! I completely understand about keeping your head in the sand when sick. I do it too, but call it "going to my lair." My psychologist said it's a defensive mechanism that animals use to allow time to heal. I hope you're feeling better soon! Love, Butterflake

((((( Hippi ))))) hope you feel better soon. Dry sockets hurt like crazy I had them when I had my wisdom teeth pulled about 12 years ago. I had dental surgery THursday and like you wondered if it would take longer to heal because I am on MTX & Imuran. Update us when you feel up to it, take care sis!

Thanks for all the kind words and welcome backs :-) .  I ended up going back to the dentist yesterday and got my dry socket cleaned out and packed with stuff, so hopefully I won't have too much more trouble with it.  Ginny, I think you are right about the healing thing being related to prednisone.  I had other teeth pulled pre lupus and never had trouble.
Butterflake, I like what your therapist said about the defense mechanism of animals - that's how I've been.  You would think that with feeling rotten, I'd have my head out of the sand.
It's a little more challenging to get all the rest I need with the holidays around the corner, but I'm trying to simplify and I did a lot of shopping online.
I think I'll read more posts and try to catch up some more.
