Hi wondering if anybody can help please??
for the past 5 months i have been experincing really bad pain in my hip which feels like its being crushed at first i got a really bad case of it and i couldnt stand up or walk the pain was that bad i had to go to casualty and they said it was a kidney infection and sent me away which i didnt believe. it happened again 3 weeks later and again got rushed to hospital where they said it was a sti and to get a test before they would do anything else i was horrified that just because i am a teenager they would blame it on that so i had the test to shut them up and it came back clear like i said it would. Now the pain has spread from my hip right down my leg to my toes i am in agony every day and some days the pain is so bad i cant stand up to get out of bed and the rest of the time im using crutches to get around. The doctors arent taking me that seriously and keep putting me on strong painkillers that make me sick and dizzy all day but dont do anything for the pain im at my witts end has anyone experinced anything simiular and do they know what it is thank you

I am sorry to hear about your pain. I understand how dreadful it was, especially when the docs do not treat u seriously. I do not know what cause your pain. Can u go to another hospital and not the same one, or get another new doc to check it out? It looks like something is wrong. When I have my two DVT, I had bad pain from my hip to the thigh. When I had infection got into my chronic wound, my shoulder had excruciating pain.
Did the doc do any ultrasound on your feet or any X-ray done? Did they check anything about your spine? Did they have any blood test and blood culture done for you in case of infection? Do you have any fever?
I am sorry I couldn't help you much. I beleive people here will give u more suggestions.

Hi Lulu,
Do you have lupus?  I agree with Omega, that you should go to a different hospital.  You mentioned that you're a teenager - is there a children's hospital you can go to?
Another option would be to see a chiropractor.  Have them do some xrays and maybe, just maybe, what you have is a hip that needs an adjustment.
Keep us posted okay,

Hi sweetie, well first I want to say I am so sorry you are going thru this. You sound absolutly miserable.. Our bodies are so strange. Some times it is very difficult to figure out what is going on. I can tell by your post that you are not in the united states so I can't really suggest who you might see. If you can get into some type of nerve specialist? I just don't even know if that is an option where you live. I can tell you that doctors always inevidibly go for the easiest thing first. Because that is what they see most. But the squeeky wheel gets the grease. So they say. I find it works pretty well too. Just because you are a teenager doesn't mean it is ok for them to treat you like this or not help you find the answers. A lot of people are hesitant because they think the doctor is going to think they are there for the drugs. especially in emergency clinics. If there is a way to see a regular doctor and keep bugging them until they listen. Sooner or later they will listen. Even if it doesn't seem like it now. Sometimes you just gotta get tough.
Marji on here was talking about what sounded somewhat simaliar to what you mentioned hopefully she will come on here and help you out. The only pain the I ever had like that was when my sciatic nerve was inflammed.
Praying you get some releif
p.s. I just moved my response so they were all together.

Hi lulu

I get similar pain from a pinched nerve. The nerve is in my spine but send pain down the outside of my leg right down to the feet when it is at its worst.

At times, I couldn't walk or stand. It felt like a hot knife running down the outside of my leg and it is most painful at night when I am lying down. It was really bad for a couple of years, but I have done exercises which relieve it. They don't work right away, but the eventually helped me.

I also lost about 50 pounds which I think has made a big difference too. I'm not saying that is what you have, but it sure sounds like the sciatic nerve if you can look up information on that. I hope you get a proper diagnoses soon.

I have similar pain but mine requires the doctors to block 3 periphery nerves every few months. I have ben avoiding getting my injection despite serious pain because I am having leg weakness and worry it will get worse. I say keep bugging the doctors till they do something. If you have lupus then you might bring up bone death or blood clots. They really need to look more seriously at this because it could signal a serious condition.

Has anyone else had an MRI to check into what's happening? And/or GI & GYN investigations? Both are in the area where my pain seemed to be coming from.

That's what we did with mine and it was clear that no bone damage was occurring or anything else (not GI or GYN, checked out both throughly) -- it is basically general lupus inflammation (& maybe some age or fibro involved). So I have pain meds for when it hurts - fortunately mine is really mild now but it has it's spells.

Since yours sounds like it travels down your leg, I wonder if a neurologist might be helpful, or as someone else suggested, a chiropractor?

I hope you find some relief soon,

Thankyou very much for your replies and well wishes. I am 19 so i am too old to go to a childrens hospital but because of my age the doctors just arent taking me very seriously at all its really annoying, I've had an x-ray on my hip and they said my hip bone is ok as in i've not fractured it or anything like that as they went through a stage where they were convinced i had fallen over and knocked it which i havent!! in the bright side iv now got an appointment with a hip speacilist on christmas eve but i dont know if thats the right person for me to see from your suggestions! my mums also booked me in with a physio therapist to see if some exercises can help improve my pain just hope something helps soon its really getting me down now when i cant go out with my friends because of it :(.
Im trying to get in with a different doctor who will hopefully help but i will take all your suggestions and ask my doctor about them and whethier it could be one of those. Thankyou very much hope you are all well and have a lovely christmas x
