I too have had those very scary senerios!  I have experienced total loss (except my eyes) and from the chest down.  I have seen my Rheumy, primary and neuro...no dx or explanation.

I am courious as to how long it takes you to regain movement and do you experience extreme muscle fatigue after?  Do you experience loss of bladder control?  I have.

My father used to live with me and would find me awake, unable to move.  It became so common that he would set me up and talk to me even though I was unable to reply.  I now live alone with my child and fortunatly she has not realized what happens.  I either pretend Im asleep or stay in the bed.

Good luck and I am interested in what your doctor will say.

well it is sleep paralysis and luckily my primary has had these before she says their benign and i have a appointment with my pulmonologist in january since he is a sleep study expert.. she gave me a very low dose of ambien 2.5 mg to help me sleep.. she told me to let the sleep paralysis do its stuff she says she has had it twice the first time it scared here and the second time she let it ride out and she says the dreams are sooo vivid that its almost cool.. she says what is happening is everyones body is paralyzed while their sleeping so they wont act out there dreams and hurt themselves or others.. she says what i am experiencing is my brain is waking up during or before the REM cycle and my body is still paralyzed she says it should only last a few seconds to minutes..she warned me that some could become scary but im in control of the dreams so to go with it... i had a episode lastnight that was weird after i experienced the so called talking out loud what i thought was my husband walking up to give me a kiss tellin me it was okay..i questioned him on it this mornin and it wasnt him so i must have been dreaming, so now that i know its not so scary and if it does become scary she told me to try to wiggle my toes or squint my eyes it should pull me ut of it,.... sooooooo i feel a little easier but its still scary...

I have had similar experiences but mine differ, I find if I can force myself to go back to sleep I can wake up ok don't know if it all similar or not but the feeling is horrible I feel if I go back to sleep I may not wake up at all. I have sle, curtaneous lupus, sjogrens and raynauds can anyone tell me more about what to expect I would appreciate it and how do I tell them apart.

Hello Zolgher, I don't have most of what you are asking about so I couldn't really give you any helpful answers....I don't know if you have gotten any replies. If not I think you should make a new post and I'm sure you will get some responses. I've noticed you on some older threads where maybe your questions aren't being seen. sorry I'm not much help.

I've had this happen to me a couple times lately. 1 time I fell asleep on the couch an woke up. So I went up to bed and then fell asleep. about a minute after I fell asleep I woke up and couldn't move or do anything for a couple seconds.
The second time this happened I woke up in the middle of the night and felt like I was leaving my body. I was scared at first but then jsut thought I was dying and wanted to see my sister so I accepted it. I must have fallen back to sleep again. Pretty weird feelings. I also sometimes get hallucinations when i'm falling asleep. Like ppl talking loudly or bangs, music, etc
