Hey Kasey,

In one of your postings you mentioned this involuntary movement you were experiencing while on Zoloft; can you describe it for me?

I'm asking because since I started on Zoloft at the beginning of November, I've been having these really powerful spasms, I guess you could call them.  I only get them when I'm sitting, or at the computer, resting or trying to fall asleep.  My arms will jerk out, or a leg, or even my entire torso will lurch! Sometimes my head will do it too.  It's really strong jerking, spasming, movements. Now I'm wondering if it's from the Zoloft?

Thanks so much!

Ginny,
I pulled this from a side effects sight:

An allergic reaction is a possible Zoloft side effect. Stop taking Zoloft and contact your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical treatment if you experience difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, face, or tongue, hives, a fast or irregular heartbeat, jaw, neck or back muscle spasms, shuffling walk, slow or difficult speech, persistent fine tremor or inability to sit still, fever or severe skin rash. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience yellowing of the skin or eyes.

You might want ot call your Doctor. I had a similar reaction to Bentyl, but it was my jaw. It started rapidly spasming and I couldn't stop it. I went ot ER and they knew what it was and gave me an injection of  epipeniphrene I think and it immediately stopped!

Hi Cynthia,

Thank you for the info. I don't think these "jerks" are muscle spasms. If they are, they're massive!!! I'm not kidding.  I'm a little afraid they might be seizure activity of somesort..... But I only get them when I'm still. When I'm moving around I haven't ever had one of these.  They're really weird.. I'll be seeing my doctor in a couple of weeks and I'll bring it up with him then.  I've been on the Zoloft for over 2 months now with no other issues, so I don't think I'm allergic.  I'll keep this all in mind though!

Blessings,
Ginny
