Hi All. Spring 2008 I became very sick and I quit work Aug 2. I applied for disability retirement thru work which was approved in November. I also had to apply for Social Security Disability which I did over the internet on Oct 20. January 3, 2009 I received my approval. This is so weird. No denials, no appeals, and no lawyer. I'm not complaining. I just don't understand. Love, Butterflake

Let me be the first to congratulate you! You must have done a darn good job of documenting all of your illnesses, symptoms and such. Perhaps you caught them on a good day or they were in the holiday spirit, who knows, but I'm very happy for you!

I just filed my paperwork in December, I hope to be as successful as you!

Hi Melissa. I filed on the internet and then walked into Social Security before they even had a chance to call me. I had complete copies of everything they needed, from medical records to military documents. I spent over $100 on copies. The case worker commented on what an excellent job I did. I was so sick that it was a bear to complete, but as my BF said, "Anything you can do for them, do it." Good luck on yours! Love, Butterflake

Congratulations Donna that's wonderful. Boy will that be a big help. Mine was sort of like that. They took all my info on the phone. Then I got a letter  a week later to see one of their doctors. I went in and blew into a machine and walked backwards on my heels. They sent me home and I got a call in two weeks saying I was approved. Like you I was amazed but greatful.

Hopfully that will help you with the stress and you will get feeling better.

love ya

Whoa!  Donna that is wonderful!  You should set up a seminar and teach people how to file and manage their SSI applications. Charge them $50 each and watch the money roll in!

Great work!  I'm so glad you don't have to worry about this anymore!

Blessings,
Ginny

Hi Carol and Ginny. Since I was getting retirement disability from work, I wasn't real concerned about the SSD. I still need to get my health insurance straightened out, but that shouldn't take too much. Thanks for the replies. Love, Donna

Congratulations, somebody up there likes you.

Most of us had to go through a lengthy process to get approval.  I am glad to be old enough in a few weeks to get SS instead and not deal with it anymore.

You are an exception to the rule.  Normally it takes a patient with stage 4 cancer of ALS to get such quick approval.

Thanks Bill. I know that at least the funeral plot has to be dug. Believe me I keep wondering if there's something in my medical records I don't know.  If so, I'll enjoy the money while I can. smilewinkgrin I hope your switch to SS is easy! Love, Donna

Congratulations Donna for your approval.  It was a long and drawn out process for me to get SSD.   I too admire the ability to do these things as you did them.
