Just wondering. How long til the pred helps? I have been in a flare since Thanksgiving Weekend. I thought, "well, if I can just hang on through Christmas and New Year's, I will feel better". So, I did. And it's worse now. My DH (a saint), finally asked me, today, to consider a pred burst to try and get this joint pain/swelling under control. I usually fight the pred, but at this point, I am willing to try anything. I am allergic to all aspirin products, so my options are limited. DH called my primary, my rheumy, and my allergist and left messages at all three explaining the situation and requesting a prescription for the pred. All three called back and agreed! My DH must have been almost as desperate as I was! The pharmacy only filled the first one! They put me on 20 mg/day for five days, then start tapering down. Hope it helps, soon!

Thanks for letting me vent!

Hope you are all having a good day.
Take care,
Fran

Thank you! I read more than I post (I'm not as badly off as so many members), but I knew I could count on this board for support!
Take care,

Hey Fran - hope you are feeling better pronto!  And good for your DH to get things rolling!!!  I've explained to my DH that sometimes I need help thinking through what I need sometimes....the pain and fatigue just unplug a large portion of brain cells and I feel like I just don't know what to do.  I've also been mostly in flare since November - like you - made it through the holidays fairly well, and thought that would be the worst of it, but last week and into this one I feel like I'm losing ground again.  Must be all the frigid temps.   Anyway - sorry you've been having such a rough patch - hope you get a fast turn around.

Lucy

Hi Fran,

Sorry to hear you are suffering so much! I am so glad to hear that your DH took matters into his own hands and called your docs! What a keeper! I bet you will be feeling better by the end of the week! Normally steriod burst make a big difference for me if the pain is coming from my lupus, if the pain is coming from my fibro the steriods can actually make things worse. Sounds like it was time to give it a try and put this rough patch behind you.

Take care and get some rest. Keep us posted and let us know if it is bringing some relief.

Hi Fran. I'm glad you got the prednisone. Sometimes it's the only thing that will help. You should be wired by now, so gather some movies, books, magazines, etc and take it easy. Love, Butterflake

I'll never forget the day, a couple of years ago, when I thought I just couldn't stand the pain anymore so I called my rheumy to beg for help. She told me to up my prednisone to 60mg for a couple of days. I could hardly get up off the sofa to get my bottle of pills. Within three hours I had cleaned out the large storage closet off the family room and was trying to figure out what to clean next. If only the effects could last forever and the side effects would become existent.

Thank you, everyone! I have been so much better, today that I'm almost afraid to believe it! I worked all day, and ironed a bunch of DH' s work shirts. And I am still feeling fine.
I hope you are all having a good day. :-)
Take care,
Fran

Hi sweetie, sorry I am getting in here late. I was wondering with the taper if you are still feeling ok? Hopefully t isn't something you will need to stay on for awhile. You might ask your dr. to order you aboput 20 of them to keep around just for occassions like this. That's what my dr. did. He told me to just put them up and take them if I need them. It's not like they are a narcotic or people would actually want to have them. Oh yeah how is it that all you ladies got such great other halves? I have a dog tongue . He could not care less if I hurt or not as long as he has food and water.

love ya
