Hi all,

Recently found out I have discoid lupus - not fatal, but can develop into systemic. Though no one can pinpoint the cause, one of the speculations is that it is hereditary.

Should my parents get a biopsy done to see if their health is in danger and just don't know about it?

Would a biopsy not have to be taken from a discoid sore?

There is some research that indicates that lupus may be hereditary, and if so, you would have inherited it from one of your parents, not the other way around. Talk to your rheumy if you're worried, but I wouldn't be concerned. I have three grown children and unless one of them were to develop symptoms of lupus, I don't see any need for any of them to be tested.
