I did a quick search and found the following information on a donate blood website: http://www.donateblood.com.au/page.aspx?IDDataTreeMenu=88
"Systemic lupus erythematosus - I have systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) can I donate?
You are not eligible to donate if you have SLE because it affects your fitness to tolerate regular blood donation. It is also possible that regular blood donations could affect the severity of chronic inflammatory conditions such as SLE.

Hi all, yes Lynnwood is correct. This is a subject dear to my heart since I will be getting donations if I get listed. People can give blood with lupus but each center is different so they recommend that you check with your local blood bank first. More inportant then that before you ever do anything you need to check with your doctor!. While it may be alright and you may feel ok if your anemia is not under control you need to wait until it is.
