Finally! I got two lab results from two different drs. My neuro and my pcp. Both my anas were elevated. One was 1/160 with a speckled pattern and the other if it was higher than 120 was positive. Mine was 243. Can anyone elaborate on this please? He said its possible lupus based on that and my past history and current symptoms so im going to see a rheumy. Any suggestions?? Thank you! -Brit

Hi Mommy,

Read through the posts in the Lupus Resources thread (link at the end of my signature) . . you'll find a collection of good info in those posts . . . including info on the pattern of +ana's and another post with tips for new members and yet another with suggestions for a cheat sheet for doctor appointments.

Your first rheumy appointment will likely take about an hour and he/she will ask a LOT of questions and order a ton of blood work. Preparing ahead of time is valuable!!

Blessings!

Hey Brit,

Well that's good!  Your doctor sounds like they want to get you rolling here.  Rosie's links are great to visit.  Let us know when your rheumy appointment is.

I hope you can get it to see the rheumy sooner than may! I know how frustrating it is to wait! Good luck and God Bless you, Judy

Thank you all for the luck! :) I am hoping too because may seems so far away! Question though, what if I'm not flaring when I have my appt? What will they look at then or do? Just not sure exactly what to expect :) Thanks again! -Brit

P.S. Hope everyone is feeling alright.

You may not be in flare but most likely you have symptoms that you have just got used to and don't think they are involved. Don't hold back tell them as much as you can because it can be the little things that give them the clue.

Good luck and don't stress about it or you will be in flare.

Thanks Bryan. That makes sense. I was wondering though, will they treat you even though you aren't flaring? Like say I was diagnosed at my next appt(probably not likely I know but so to speak)would they start me on a treatment regimen or wait until I flared to start anything? Im still having leg pain and fatigue and before a week or so ago it seemed to not be around much. Im tired not matter how little or much I sleep. It even makes me feel out there sort of and I blanked out for a second when I was telling someone the day of my birthday yesterday. It was so weird.

Most good doctors will start treating symptoms before determining a diagnosis. Since dx like lupus are so uncertain, that means most of us are treated for an "indeterminate auto-immune disease" long before a diagnosis is formally reached.

Hope you guys feel better soonest,

hey lynnwood,

I really hope you are right. I woke up this morning with a migraine and its been on and off in severity all day. I took 3 ibuprofen for leg pain as well and they are still burning. im so tired and got 10 hours of sleep last night. This is one of the worst flares ive had. I hope I get a call from the rheumy for a sooner appt. Thank you for the input though. Take care. -Brit
