I personally would not take it unless my rheumatologist recommended it.

There are so many unknowns with these types of remedies -- unless it's been FDA (Food and Drug Administration) tested on humans, and controls for quality production in place -- otherwise it's just a dangerous as walking outside and eating a random bush as far as I'm concerned.

Of course, everyone gets their own opinion -- but that is mine!

I was told to avoid anything that says that it acts on the immune system or "boosts" the immune system, since our immune systems don't work the way that they're suppocsed to, you never know what might make things worse. Take care.

LOL, Lynnwodd and Bryan, you guys are hilarious.  I needed a laugh this morning!  I agree, it's dangerous to take any herbal remedy with our disease unless it's been absolutely documented that it is safe.  We have a hyperactive immune system, so anything that is supposed to boost it we can't or shouldn't take.  If this herb stabilizes the immune system, we still don't know how it actually does that.  It might even make our immune system more "funky" than it already is.
Aashi, we can't advise anyone to take medication or herbs.  That has to be our doctor's role. Please consult your doctor before taking any kind of alternative therapy. We want our members to be as healthy and informed as possible!  We care about you!!

The article differentiates between Folk Medicine and Scientific Research for a reason. Many of us take immunosuppressants to control our lupus, so taking something that purportedly supports our immune system is contradictory. I have orders from my rheumy to stay away from that type of thing.

I understand that friends tend to offer suggestions, i.e., you need to get out more and you'll feel better, or, you should take acai juice because it will heal you.....and I just smile and nod. But the only suggestions I take are those I get from my doctor. So far, it's been working.
