I went to the eye doctor today for blurry vision and halo's around lights.  I have cataracts beginning on both my eyes from chronic prednisone use.  Has anyone else had this surgery?  Judy

Oh Judy, are they that bad?  You need surgery?  I had prednisone induced cataracts but they went away on their own.  I think this type of eye surgery is pretty common now.  I hope someone can give you a first hand account of their own experience.  I'm sorry you have this to deal with now.  Sending hugs and prayers!

(((((((( Judy )))))))

I don't know a thing about it . . . but wanted to bump your topic back to the top. Think about changing your title to get the attention of members who may be able to help . . . something like "Prednisone induced Cateracts - HELP!"

Some hot tea for you sis!

I don't need surgery right away. He said probably in the near future. I've been having severely dry eyes. He did a test to see how much moisture my eyes are making, if it's ten or below you are 'clinically dry', my left eyes was almost 2 and my right eye was 3. He said they are "hideously" dry and wants to do some kind of plugs. (punctal?)

I did not realize cataracts could go away on their own! That gives me hope! Thanx, Judy

I have read contrary evidence - ie that cataracts will not go away on there own. Guess maybe it's a wait and see thing and different for everyone...

Also wanted to mention that my eye doc said no surgery while still on prednisone -- of course, different drs probably think differently on that too!!

PS. My eyes are so dry they couldn't even do the test!!! Weird, I thought...

Does the dry eyes affect your vision? My doc said the dryness could be causing the blurry vision more so than the cataracts! He gave me Systane ultra and a couple other samples to try. But he recommends the plugs. Have you heard of the plugs? Judy
