Hi everyone, I hope everybody has a great easter.

My question.. I was diagnoise over 20 yrs. ago for discord lupus. I was in remission for a couples yrs. so I started with my pcp. and he was treating me never went off plaquenil. Well 2yrs. ago I was having major flares since my lupus doc. move It took some time to find another one, they thought I had sle, so my new rhumy sent me to lupus derm. they did a biospy. She said there was no defintive answere to le, or scle no organs involve which I'm happy about. I went on line to look up the differance between le. scle. I did not see to much on le this might sound dumb but is there a differance I'm not really sure. I'm on elidel and protopic for my rash, amlactin for my very dry skin. Whats wierd my pcp has me as sle so does my rhumy. but derm. has scle and then le. Who knows. Thanks for any replys

Hi Debbie,
I have SCLE and discoid type rashes with hypopigmentation. Still have a UCTD diagnosis. I know you can have SCLE as a diagnosis (with other symptoms such as joint pain and fatigue) and you can also have SCLE rashes (most commonly with anti-ro antibodies) with SLE and even primary Sjogren's. DLE can be a diagnosis if only skin involved but can be rashes that also accompany SLE. All very confusing!!

I also use Amlactin (yucky smell huh?) and I use Locoid Lipocream (topical steroid) for my rashes.

I wish I had answers for you and myself. It's a process. Treatment is going well though, not so worried about the diagnosis. I hope you can get the answers that you need.

I was in a major flare last week my face felt like real bad sunburn but worse, tounge, dry mouth, eyes burning. back and shoulders were hurting, I used the lidoderm patches for the pain also took celebrex. I've been on elidel for a yr. now, but she just perscribe me protopic I was wourdering with using both cause a reaction. I did call my doc. haven't heard from her. I do hope she calls soon. Thanks again.
