Hi Everyone, I hope I do this right smilewinkgrin . I have been sporting a raspy voice ever since I had a flair in Feb. I also have a bad taste when I cough or clear my throat. I am not sick with anything and my endochrinologist sent me for an ultrasound. My question is, "Are any of you experiencing this with flairs or perhaps from meds? Thanks so much, Tammy
I have SLE, Raynauds, mitrol valve prolapse,Haushimotos thyroiditis.

Meds I'm on are Prednisone, Vitamin D, Hydroxchloiquin, amitriptylin, levoxyl, colchcine, mobic, flexeril, and lyrica

Hello LovedbyHim,
Funny, I was just going to ask the very same question. I started to flare back in March and started on Methotrexate, plaquenil, folic acid, and prednisone. I was finally getting relief about a week ago and then last Friday I started with the raspy voice. I had been outside planting flowers the previous days and I think it might be allergy/sinus related. It is getting better but this last night I started getting puffy eyes and drainage now so I'm pretty sure it is an infection not related to the meds. I really don't feel all that bad either, went shopping and got a haircut yesterday and have tons of energy so I'm not sure what is going on. Some people are telling me that our pollen count is real high here right now so maybe it's that. I am tired of sounding like a squeaky mouse though. Plan to call my doctor today to see what they think. Hope yours improves too.

Hugs and Angels,

Lynnette

Thanks Lynette, it is rather insignificant to have a horse voice, but I sing in church and now i am sounding like Lacy J Dalton or Janice Joplin! turn LOL

I wait upon the reports from my ultrasound on my thyroid. I don't have any allergies presently so I think it is just inflamation. I am one big inflamation sometimes! Sheesh! Thanks, Tammy

Hey Tammy,
Are you singing solo or in a choir? Hopefully choir where you can just fake it, if you have to. Anyways, I called my dr. this morning because I now realize that I have developed conjunctivitis (in both eyes) because of either the allergies or the meds. The nurse told me I had to call my regular physician for an antibiotic eye cream. Called my regular dr. and they won't prescribe it until I go there tomorrow and probably spend another 2 hrs in the waiting room to get some relief - the story of my life. I don't get it, if the rheumy is the one prescribing the meds, you would think they could prescribe the antidote prescriptions you made need for side effects. What a racket!! Plus, I am PTSO President at my son's high school and I have my last meeting of the year tonight and I'm going to go in looking like a stoner with puffy eyes. When will things ever get better? Anyways, hope the results come back good from the ultrasound. Keep me posted.

Hi Tammy, I have a chronic sinus infection/sinusitis and get that same taste in my mouth. In my case I don't think it has anything to do with my meds or when I flare because it's constant for me. It could possibly be inflammation since you have Hashi's. Let us know what the doctor says.

Hi--

I get it when my TSH goes up, or my sjogrens acts up, or I get sinusitis--which happens from restasis occasionally, or just because my glands are swollen alot. Usually when it is really brassy, my TSH is up and they have to adjust my thyroid medicine. I switched to Armour thyroid a few months ago and though at first I didn't think it was working as well as synthroid, now I'm slowly losing weight and feel better on it and my tests are better. I haven't had as many problems with swelling off and on either, but I don't think it is as overall strong, it doesn't make me feel as energetic as synthroid did, but synthroid is not a complete replacement, Armour aims to be.

Thanks Marji and Stacey, I suspect it is inflamation to my thyroid. I hope to get a call from the doc soon. God bless Tammy

hi Marcia, thanks for letting me know you get raspy too. I wait and wonder, but I don't get too excited because there are so many other more difficult issues, such as PAIN. Thanks so much. Tammy
