Fellow lupies,

I searched around on the web till I found a wonderful umbrella that's made to protect us from the sun's rays. It has UV protection.

Normally I use a large brimmed hat and plenty of sunscreen, but there are times when it's so hot outside and we go to events where we stand around in the sun, or to the park, or, as I did a couple of weeks ago, to the Arts Festival, where I know that even with my huge hat I'm getting too much sun, and I think this will be perfect to ward off not only the sun, but also the heat.

I can't post the website here, but if any of you would like to check it out, email me and I'll send you the site. I got the travel size with delivery charges, it cost $32.55.

scool Remember, we have to avoid the sun!

Hey Patty,

Thanks!! You can post the link if it doesn't benefit YOU. Here is the rule:

"Advertising or Spam is defined as posting a link for the purpose of selling, soliciting or promoting by someone that has ownership or other "vested interest" to the web site involved, including efforts to promote other online forums or web sites by web site owners. "

In other words . . . you CAN post this link.

I hope you'll let us know how you like your umbrella when you receive it. I've used a golf umbrella A LOT and I normally keep one in my trunk. It often comes in handy for unexpected moments. I got rear-ended on the free-way a couple years back and I had to stand out in that sun while I waited for the police and while they questioned the drivers. I couldn't sit in the car because it was dangerous . . . so I was really glad I had my umbrella with me.

I also carry a normal "cheapy" umbrella that I use when I need something smaller. . . or if I don't want to risk losing my bigger one in the wind. But the golf umbrellas are pretty wind-tolerant, and I've had good sun protection using them too. But I wouldn't know if its as good as the UV type.

Great topic!

Blessings!

Thanks Rosie. I'm so bad at reading directions.

The website I used is:

www.uv-blocker.com/

I'm sure there are plenty others, but I liked the looks of this one, plus it's wind-tolerant like the golf umbrellas Rosie uses.

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone else has tried the UV-Blocker umbrella, and if so, how do you find it? I've been all over the internet looking for one in Canada, but there just doesn't seem to be any at all. I even contacted the Canadian Cancer society, thinking they would know where all the great sun protection items can be bought, and the guy I spoke to had not even heard of UV umbrella's. I was so disappointed. Then, in my search results I found this topic and as a result have joined your forum.

LorGayle,

If you check the link I posted above, I can't imagine that they wouldn't send an umbrella to Canada.

I absolutely love my umbrella. I keep it in my car so I can use it if I have a long walk from my car to the grocery store. I used it a couple of weeks ago when I spent an couple of hours at a local nursery that was having a huge sale. I used it when we went to an arts festival. I took it to our 4th of July festival. I don't feel strange with it at all. You see more and more people with hats to protect themselves from the sun.

I also wear a big floppy hat and sometimes that's enough protection, but the umbrella comes in so handy. If you can't find one that can be shipped to Canada, let me know and I'll order it for you and send it to you.

I'm glad you found our forum. Please start a new thread and introduce youself to all of us and tell us about yourself and your condition. I think you'll find this a wonderful place to learn, share, and receive support.

By the way, there are other Canadians here.

Welcome,

Pat
