I've been having pain it's back by my ear where the bone is and runs down to my shoulder not sure if I have an infection on or thyroid acting up. It comes and goes away but this time it's staying, can barely move my head and lift my left shoulder. I am dealing with my husband diabetes so I'm not sure if it's due to stress. Thanks for any responce

I get that occassionally as well.  I had one doctor tell me that it was TMJ, triggered by stress.  When the stress is alleviated, symptoms do get better for me.  Nothing else really worked.  I hope you feel better soon.

Hi, sometimes the tube to the ear gets inflamed and swells and really hurts. I get these mini ear infections all the time. I guess its all connected with the sinuses and all. If you think its "Swimmer's ear" from getting water in your ear, many preparations over the counter work--most made of viniger and water. You could probably find a recipe on the web. I use this after showers sometimes because I can be prone to it. Then dying my hair can irritate it. Finally, plain old mild sinusitis and allergies can make it swell. It can hurt alot. My ENT (ear nose and throat doc) tells me to take an over the counter antihistamine recommended by my pharmacist to open up the tube so it drains and doesn't turn into a full blown infection.

When I get sore throats, I often get this. Because of my diabetes and other meds and all, my doc recommends tylenol cold cool blue stuff, which soothes my throat. But you need to check with your doc and pharmacist. Usually a dose of decongestant will open the eustacian tube for me and it will drain and be fine.

I also use flonase at the first sign of problems to try to avoid it happening and getting worse and brush alot alot when when I have problems. I hope you feel better. It can get really painful. I spent much time as a child with that pain. An ear nose and throat doc can help. I think sjogrens makes it happen, restasis gives me sinusitis (its a side effect).

I hope it goes away.

After I was hit as a pedesterian last year (trust me, if anything could happen that seems impossible, it will happen to me. I was even in the crosswalk and my signal :S) Anyhow, after I was hit, I had similar pain. I had a lot of really tight muscles that were so tight the tissues inflamed, all this pressed on my nerves and pinched a nerve. After medical massage (a few days of it) it started easing down.

I have a friend with RA and she acually developed joint inflammation of the small bones of the inner ear. She had surgery, but still lost most of her hearing on that side. Please don't ignore any new symptoms, this disease is too crazy brush off anything as just a mild symptom. I keep track of everything on my computer and print it out before any doctor appointment. Best of luck and God Bless.
