Hello everyone,
I just saw my rheumatologist 2 weeks ago and things are getting better, sed rate significantly reduced, kidney and liver functions are great, but I had to go off the methotrexate because my WBC was elevated so she figured I was fighting a respiratory infection. Put me on a ZPAK and everything is better with that now, but I still seem to have significant swelling in just my right foot that won't go away and stiffness still in the joints in my fingers. She told me to alternate the prednisone now 10 mg one day, 5 the next, still take the plaquenil and folic acid, and I'm taking anywhere from 1000 mg to 1500 mg of naproxen a day to fight the inflammation. Also take the lisiniprol for blood pressure which I would also think would help fluid retention. I live in Mississippi and we have been having higher humidity lately, could this be part of it, or is it just going to take longer for my feet and hands to become less inflamed? I have never had prior problems with fluid retention, even during pregnancies. My right foot feels so tight some times - even toes look fat! Any thoughts on what might be happening? Thanks guys.

Lynnette,

I would be tempted to go to my pcp if I were having swelling on one limb. Take a picture of it and of your other foot so you'll have a record of it to show to your doctor.

I hope you find out why that's happening.

Thanks for the advice. Seems a little better today, I think I might just be overdoing it some and need to slow down too. Still trying to adjust to my Type A brain that I've had for 49 years telling me I can do it all, when I know now that I can't, but I'm working on it.
My husband is going out of town for 3 days and my sons are done with school, so that will really help me to take it easy this week. Hope you are doing well.

sound advice pat ... a pictures worth a thousand words? isn't that what they say?
lynnette sorry to read that you have swelling etc ... if the swelling persists try asking a pharmicist for free advice on when to seek medical treatment? or ideally see your pcp
don't be to hard on yourself ... you will in time learn your own comfort levels ... warning signs etc!
hang in there ... treat yourself! favourite healthy take aways, long hot baths, movies, whatever you really enjoy, 3 good books all in a row.
