Oh Smurfy, I feel your pain. Don't worry about the brains. I have met several drs that don't have any.

As for your question. You can have what is called a false/possitive. Which will show up possitive but be negative. You can also have an auto immune disease and still have a negative ANA. My ANA is ususally 1:2560 and I have been told by 2 different drs now that people with a possitive ANA means they are healthy. shocked I'm not sure what playbiy magazine they were reading out of at the time but it just left me shaking my head.

What did your Dr. have to say about your results?

hugs

Okie, he said all my tests were normal then pointed out "but" you have keytones and protien in your urine. THen he said my sedimationlil (sp) was a little high in my blood work. But he said it was still normal. So I'm questing him as he said I was normal then drew attention to those two facts. I also did research on Wegener's which he is pretty sure I have. Get this, most peiople die if they dont get treated right away. The kidneys usually fail and cause death. So I asked him for routine monitoring of all my vital orgains, he said "I am, every few months." He isnt getting the picuture--if I go into organ failure, I want to have time to save my life :S

Smurfy, Could the radiation tx affected your ANA? I know the ANA is a measurement of Anti-antibodies in our blood, if radiation has wiped out your immune system, it would make sense that your Anit-antibodies went down. My ANA went down to almost nothing when I was on Imuran for 3 months, now it's right back up to 520 and speckled. So go figure. The important thing is how are you about the care you are getting. If you think your doc is slipping get a second opinion. Our health is far too fragile to let someone make a mistake about it, especially with all you've been through. Take care and God Bless.
