As some of you may have noticed, I was away from HW Tues-Fri this week.

Tigers are my passion, as far back as I can recall, and...

I had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play with 4 tiger cubs! At 35 lbs, they were in the last week of being available for playtime...a couple more lbs and they no longer are allowed interact with the public. Their bite size is about 6 inches right now, and I can testify that they have an amazingly strong grip.

A whole bunch of photos are online at www.flickr.com/photos/lkd-photos. For some reason they are in backwards order, last to first, but take the time to check out the series where all 4 of the little rascals are destroying the cardboard boxes....what a hoot!

It was well worth the 6 hour drive (one way)!

Wow! - very fun photos, Lynnwood.  I was surprised to see the "albino" cubs....aren't they very rare?  Glad you had the chance to indulge a passion.....always a good thing yeah !

My son loves tigers, too.  I'll send him the link.  Thanks for sharing!

Actually, all 4 of these cubs are recessive genes and are not really found in the wild -- their mother would have taken one look and known they couldn't survive as adults, so she wouldn't have even nursed them.

The more normal color is darker orange and dark stripes.

Lynnwood thank you for sharing!  They are absolutely amazing creatures aren't they.  I have a very soft spot in my heart for cats of all kinds.  Where did you go to do this?  Is that you in the pink shirt with all the scratches on your arms? LOL, cats will be cats!

www.alabamagulfcoastzoo.com/...but call before you go to check on what age is currently being shown.

Yeah, you picked me out. That was only the beginning of the bites...tigers mouths are about 6 inches across at that age...and quite strong. Those weren't scratches, we never saw claws come out! Notice I am the only one crazy enough to sit down & let them taste me! I *do* like my kitties.

There is a rip in that shirt, and one in my heavy jeans as well...I didn't show ya'll the photos of my bruises & holes. Check out the pictures of them destroying the cardboard box...that's what they tried to to do me! LOL

Great pixs! What a fun time! Definitely worth doing. Did they scratch or play rough? They are so adorable.

Lynnwood,

I loved seeing the photos and it was great putting a face to our dear Lynnwood. What a terrific experience. What is it about babies? It's obvious from your photos that you were having the time of your life.

Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the photos -- I usually take special care to stay away from Off-Topic posts, but this trip just made me grin ear-to-ear and I couldn't resist sharing!
