about two weeks ago I went to my GP because I found a bald spot on the crown of my head, they said they will probably not know what caused it but did a bunch of bloodwork. The DR tested me for lupus, among other things. The blood came back positive ANA negative titer. My great grandmother had lupus. I have no other symptoms besides the hair loss, which is growing back now. I do have tiredness but my iron level is also 19, the lowest it should be is 40, so I think that helps a lot. I have no joint pain, no rash, nothing. Any clues as to what it means when you have positive ANA but negative AB? They took more blood yesterday to do the double stranded test, I am just starting to get scared and anxious.

Thanks so much in advanced!

Positive ANA results can be attributed to many illnesses and diseases, lupus is only one of the possibilities. I would suggest waiting until the remainder of the tests are completed...then if you are not satisfied with the GP's explanation/treatment, you can take the next step.

Check out the Lupus Checklist to see what your lupus risk is. Look at the diagnosing symptoms. Then if necessary locate a nearby lupus-aware rheumotologist by locating your Local Chapter of lupus.org and seeing who works with them.

Hope that helps and that you feel better soon,
