Help! I am 28 yrs old, had my first daughter 6 1/2 yrs ago. After I gave birth to her, I was admitted back into hospital (same day I was sent home) because i could not keep any liquids or food down, my blood pressure was extremely high, and I was freezing cold. They never figured out what was wrong. I started immediately losing weight 35 pounds less than what i was before i got pregnant. Still have not gained it back no matter what i do. At that time weight loss and anxiety were my only symptoms. 2 yrs later ended up in ER for stomach ulcers. 1 Yr. after that started having pain in my joints- knees, back and hips. I also have swollen lymph nodes frequently- arm pits, neck, around ears. I develop a rash when in the sun-looks like a heat rash. Extremely tired, I have IBS, and get headaches often, twitching in various places. This has been going on for 3 plus years now. After years of going to family phys. and not getting anywhere- doc. thought i was depressed and put me on lot of different anti-depressants.?? I am not depressed and the meds only made things worse. Finally went to Internal Med. doctor, ANA labs came back 1:320 speckled and homogeneous pattern. DNA labs negative, SM labs neg, RNP labs neg. Waiting on urinalysis. Grandma died at 52 with Leukemia, sister just recently had pos. ANA. I have been reading tons on what I could possibly have, but there is no clear diagnosis. Please anyone who has similar case or insight would be greatly appreciated. I not only need to know for myself, but i have two little girls, that i am frightened might end up getting what ever it is I have.

I would suggest that you make an appointment with a rheumatologist - these are the drs that specialize in autoimmune disorders that would give you the positive ANA.

GP's & Internal Medicine Drs are not really well versed in these diseases. Also read the first topic in this forum - we have posted lots of hints on what symptoms to look for, how to find a dr, what to prepare for the first drs visit, etc.
