Hi all hope everyone is feeling well. well I have been in such horrific pain for the last few months was really out of ideas on what to do I could not function at all , not even everyday chores but...my rhumey started giving me  a long acting steroid in injection form it is called Kenalog , I am sure you guys have heard of it you get a shot in the hip and it suppossed to last for 3 months well.. it doesnt really last that long but since I have been getting them I go for 1 and a half months with hardly any pain I still cant walk for a very long distance and I get some pain in the damp weather we have been having but I dont take a daily dose of pred anymore and my inflammation numbers have came down, unfortunatly it is a steroid and has the steroid side effects but it doesnt give me insomnia like a pred taper ,or the heart pounding and anxiety but like other steroids it can affect your bones, heart, and the dreaded weight gain , but if I have to take them anyway at least I can sleep and dont have panic attacks all of the time. just thought I would share this info just in case someone didnt know about this alternative to prednisone God Bless...................nona

Hi Nona, thanks for the info. I wish I could take it but I can't take anything that effects my bones. I had heard the name before but had no idea what it was for. I'm really thrilled to know that you got something that works for you. That's wonderful. Sounds like your rhumy is on top of things. and not having to take steroid pills every day is great! One less thing to have to worry about.

Hi Nona, It is great to hear that you have found something to give you some pain relief.
I am glad the Kenalog is helping. Both of us joined the forum about the same time. I
remember the horrible pain you were in, the anxiety attacks you were having along with
the insomnia. It is wonderful that you can get some much needed rest and relief!

Hugs
