I have never been able to take the pill,it gave me severe migraine, double vision stiffness and did nothing for my sex life either! I never got pregnant when the time and age were right prob cos unknown to me i had APS! Anyway to controll some unbearable symptoms i suffered with my lupus i was advised to take mepacrine but to make sure i did not get pregnant and have to have a termination since on this drug it's not advisable so it was something i had to consider before going down that road! I was advised therefore to have a mirana coil fitted...however since i did i have suffered with dryness where a girl should'nt and had to use a lube!! Also i dont get the same pleasure! Boo hoo!! Thats not good is it??? I was advised at the well woman checkup that a hormone cream orthoginest cream may help with lubrication but it's not quite the same...cant just talk to anyone about these things and i have wondered if the maraina coil could have anything to do with this happening? it just seems a coinsidence that since i had one i started with this prob!!!! I was told it could be the change!!!I'm coming up to that age i guess but wondered to remove the coil for a month or so just to see if my body returns to it's natural functions in that department......Any one else suffered similar or got advice!

I can't handle any kind of artificial hormones so I had the copper IUD at one point. I experienced only 1 problem, I shocked everyone I touched but that was a rare side effect that has to do with my personal electrical field and no one had ever even heard of it happening before. I think you need to consider non-hormone related birth control as the artificial hormones can cause the immune system to rampage. It causes an allergic like reaction in many autoimmune patients. I wish that you were having better luck but that is the info I have from my gyn. understand I am not a medical professional just a normal person who has had some nasty experiences with artificial hormones.

Thanks Redrose,i appreciate your response! Gosh your experience of the coil sounds out of the ordinary i can't imagine that...part of me knows i was fine until i had the maraina coil fitted and my gyne is really good with me but they put it down to the lupus but i think it's a conbination of things and the lupus does'nt help! If it's not one thing it's another! would you mind me asking what form of contraception your gyne recomended? I'm quite down about it really and i'm thinking of having it removed but they seem a little lost about alternatives! Thankyou again x
