I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out a new rash I have around my neck and upper chest. It is small red circles that are slightly raised and itchy. It is really no fun but not a major deal either.

Hi Redrose, the rash you describe sounds simular to the one I sometimes get on my
neck and chest area. my rheumy referred me to a dermatologist that gave me a prescription for a topical corticosteroid gel Desonate (desonide). My rashes tend to be
short lived and will go away without treatment in a couple days. My rashes have a slight
burning itch sensation to them. If your rash persists definately get it checked out. You
might want to take a picture of it in case it disapears before you can ask a doc about it.

Good Luck

Hi Redrose--
To me, it sounds like a drug rash or other allergic rash say from laundry soap or something rubbing around the torso. It is in the typical area for drug rashes though. I get the same rash from Darvocet, Skelaxin, and Celebrex--from your list--these are hard on the liver. With me, what happens is the meds back up in my system little by little and by about two months I start to get the rash, often with diarrhea, sometimes numbness and tingling around the mouth and throat if I keep on going. If its just laundry soap, I usually just get the rash. I pulled out some old winter clothes andended up being allergic to the soap I had last washed them with. If you are having a rash on pred, imagine how bad it could be without the pred. You might want to check wth your primary care or do the walk-in thing so it gets documented in case you end up having an allergic reaction to a med, esp. a pain med. They mayhave to switch you to something else and then later on might question your allergy. I go through this with darvocet and Toradol all the time.

I hope thingsare going well!
Love, Marji

I know it isn't an allergic reaction because nothing new has been tried. We did document it via photo tonight. I will be looking for a dermetologist to figure out what is happening.

Thanks now I know what is happening. WHY after all these years am I developing discoid lupus? Especially when I feel fine physically. How is it treated? I am so sick of this disease.
