Hi everyone. Im 24 andI have recently been diagnosed with mixed connective tissue disease after months of tests because of joint and muscle pain and fatique. I was put on meds and they seemed to be working well however the past few days Ive felt my wrists and hands get painful again and today I feel dizzy, distracted and can hardly keep my eyes open as my head and eyes feel so heavy. I just feel like I can't concentrate and want to go to sleep but I can't as Im in work. Also have a headache but I thinks its due to being so tired. Is this the sympoms of a flare or something else? I don't know what to think as Im new to all this. .

Hey Lynny...Yes to me sounds exactly like a flare. I get severe widespread joint pain and pretty killer headaches that turn into migraines. And fatigue is a huge part of it. If you can take a few hours off of work and get plenty of rest. If it doesnt get better in a few days I would deffiantly call your rhuemy. Hopefully this will pass soon for you! SOrry you are going through this. Are you in the Southern US? Maybe Tropical Storm Ida is having something to do with your symptoms as well. I am having joint pain but its not the normal flare joint pain and headache so I am blaming it on Ida...

Hi Lynny, oh yes, those are definite flare symptoms.  Amy's suggestion of it being weather related is a good one. Strong fluctuations in the barometer can bring on a flare.  Definitely contact your rheumy, and let them know what's happening. Maybe your meds need to be tweaked a bit.

Get some rest!

I WOULD SAY YES AS I FEEL THAT WAY MYSELF , I WAS AT WORK FEELING LIKE THIS MOST OF THE DAY, AND IT SUCKS. LUPUS IS REALLY A WEIRD DISEASE , AND EVERYONE  I TALK TO  HAS DIFFERENT SYMPTOMS. TAKE SOME TIME FOR YOURSELF AND GET LOTS OF REST, THAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING.

Hi Lynny,

I am sorry you are feeling so bad, a lot of us are flaring right now (for some reason). Flares are different for all of us but I have to tell you this last flare I had was a doozy! I started having a floating / dizzy feeling back in Sept and never thought it could be lupus related until a month later I started having other symptoms that I recognized as a flare. I was on Pred for about 20 days and everything improved. I took my last dose on Sunday and I am already starting to feel it eyes

I pray you get through this flare soon and if need be, call your doctor! Take care

Thanks for all your relplies everyone. I am seeing my Rheumy tomorrow so hopefully he will give me some information or new meds or whatever he thinks will help. I feel very bad today have a very sore head and feel so drained. Also have started feeling sick in my stomach although have not been sick. I hope this doesn't last too long!
