Has anyone used this? I got back from the Kidney doctor a few minutes ago and they are going to start me on this next week. Right now they are making sure my insurace will pay for it? Apparently it will be the new IV Iron and it only takes 17 seconds to give it and I will wait 30 minutes to have my BP taken every 10 minutes and make sure I don't have any reactions? I will get one dose next week and then another dose the next week. So a total of 2 doses compared to the other IV of iron that takes 2 hrs several times a week. Pretty cool ( I think) I will be the first person that they give it to from my docs office...So just curious if anyone else has tried this? I believe the FDA approved it in the states in June or July so its really new!!!

I guess once I get my doses of this and get my RBC to where they should be, I will start the procrit shots...Anyone had the procrit shots? What can I except from those?

I've had tons of iron infusions but not that quick!!! Sounds great! Let us know how it goes. I don't know if it was just me, but I declare I could taste an awful taste with that old iv iron med!
How are you feeling? Judy

Was the taste in your mouth worse than IV Pred at 1000mg? Jeepers, I thought that was bad. LOL

I am feeling ok. Got another cold and some pretty swollen joints but I am kind of used to that. Get ready for this...My Creatinine is 1.2 :)! Still spilling lots or protein and blood but my kidney function is improving. YAY! My nephrologist did say depending on how things go after Cytoxan on Thursday he might want to do another biopsy next month. I guess to see how much scarring this is and maybe figure out why the blood and protein won't get better?

I got an email saying they shipped your book today. I was hoping it would be here by Thursday since the Cytoxan infusion takes 6-7 hrs but I guess not...How are your kidneys doing? Are they staying ok even with all you have had going on the last month?

Amy,
NOTHING is worse than the taste of prednisone!!! BLECH!! I chewed like 13 packs of gum while I was getting those infusions! LOL!

YAY!!! I'm so happy!! Your creatinine is AWESOME!! My creatinine is 2.0. Which is great for me. It's staying anywhere from 1.9 - 2.2...so it's stable. I spilled ALOT of blood and protein for YEARS and still maintained a decent creatinine. It's worrisome, I know, but I don't panic until my creatinine starts to rise!

I have to say Amy, you are very impressive with your knowledge and maturity in handling all of this! I've enjoyed chatting with you and appreciate your attitude. Hang tough girl. You're going to be amazed at how God uses your life to help others!!! Keep me up to date!!

I have taken dozens and dozens of procrit shots over the years.  NO BIGGIE!  May have slight joint pain/achiness, but nothing like "lupus" joint pain; only last a lil while and I only rarely had this side effect.  It's like an insulin needle;  small/thin.  Don't hurt at all.
