So, I have been thinking about moving back to Louisiana to be closer to my family and have more support through this illness and taking care of my 8 year old little girl.  I haven't come up with a definite decision yet, but I moved to Colorado a little over a year and a half ago, then came my shingles case in August of '08 and then in spring of '09 my "diagnosis" with UCTD.  Needless to say, my move has not been the most positive, with things only becoming more difficult.  I thought I was ready to be on my own as a single mom living away from her family, but life has gotten pretty difficult since the medical issues arose.

Anyway, if I do decide to move, I would need a new rheumy.  I looked on the lupus.org website and for some reason there is no Louisiana chapter listed, so no way to search for good local doctors there.  I have no immediate friends or family with this disease, so no way to get a personal referral to someone, either.

Does anyone have any other ideas on how to find good rheumys?  Any websites you've used?

Any advice on this would be great and definitely welcomed!
Thanks everyone!  I hope everyone is feeling well with this New Year!

Hi Nola,
Most hospital websites list the practicing physicians along with their education background and type of practice. Hopefully, there's a decent size hospital in the area you are moving to that will have this information available.

Someone else may come along soon with a better idea. Good luck and take care. Keep us updated. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

NOLA,
I live on the Mississippi/Louisina border. I have seen a rheumatologist in Madisonville, La. and one in Slidelll, La. I wouldn't highly recommend either. I am blessed that my nephrologist has researched and is willing to manage my Lupus. I'm sure there are my rheumy's in NOLA. I will ask my doc...I see her on the 6th...she graduated from Tulane and did clinicals at Ocshner...she knows alot of people.
