I spoke with Barb today and she sounds like she feels pretty bad. Her doctor has switched her from Demerol to Morphine and since she has so many mouth sores that she can't eat, she's on a saline drip. Her doctor is the hospital doctor for the next two weeks and can take better care of Barb in the hospital. And Barb also said that the nurses are sweet and treating her well. She asked me to send everyone her love.

I, or someone else here, will keep you all up to date on Barb.

Hey Pat, Thanks for posting about Barb. I talked to her but You know how bad my brain fog is. Barb seems to think I am having allusionations.sad I didn't even know it was possible. Well between us all I'm sure she will be covered with prayers and good thoughts. Don't worry about how big the problem is just rejoice about how big our God is.

(((Barb))),
Bless your heart sweetie! When we spoke last you sounded like you needed to be in the hospital. I'm glad your doctor will be there to take care of you and I'm also glad the nurses are treating you well.

Rest and take care. I hope you are back home soon feeling much better. You are in my thoughts and prayers, my friend.

Love you, Babs

Hi All:

I've been here since Tuesday and my blood counts have all dropped through the bottom. Hem/Onc doc was here to see me today and it looks like I'll have to go through another bone marrow biopsy on the back of my pelvis. They are so so painful and I hate having them. They hope to do them by tomorrow afternoon. My platelets are down to 41,000 they should be between 250,000 and 400,000 if they drop any more I'll be in danger of bleeding to death if I were to start bleeding anywhere.

They are trying to adjust my pain meds. So I'll be trying some new medications that may make me out of it for awhile. It's just between having the Lupus/RA/Fibor/Cancer my pain level is through the roof. Please pray what we're gonna try will work for me.

Hope you all are doing alright and I hope to go home in a few more days. Thanks for your prayers and well wishes.

Love,
Barb

Oh Barbara, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Philipians 4:13 is my favorite verse, "I can do all things through Him who gives me strength." One day at a time honey, one day at a time. Know you are prayed for. Hope you feel better soon!

Barb, I'm praying that your platelet levels recover as quickly as possible and that your doctors will be given extraordinary wisdom as they treat all of your medical issues and try to relieve your pain. Feel better soon!!

Barb, I had issues with my platelets last fall. They fell to 5000. 50mg of prednisone stopped the drop and actually turned things around quickly.

I sat at about 30,000 for a few weeks. Try not to worry. It doesn't get critical until you hit 10,000.

I'm praying for you too Barb. I hope you get home soon too.

Love ya,
Ginny

The problem is, for Barb her current low *is* critical. This is because she has several serious issues besides Lupus (such as fibro, gastreopaersis, anemia, RA, and MDS (a serious form of blood cancer). Treatments for all of these prohibit any increase in prednisone for her.

Barb is in a very precarious situation where treatment of any one illness can cause another equally serious illness to become more active.

Her doctors are brainstorming like mad to find something that will be helpful overall, and specialists of all kinds are being consulted. Hopefully a viable plan of action can be identified shortly.

(((Barb))),
I hope your doctors come up with something fast to help you sweetie. I'm sure you are in a great deal of pain with the bone marrow biopsy today on top of the other pain.

Hang in there my friend. We are all sending prayers and positive thoughts your way.

Love you, Babs
