Hey guys,

I got bronchitis back on February 8th. It's been 6 weeks now and I'm still sick. I have a lot of congestion in my lungs which makes me need an inhaler a few times a day. My breathing is not good. I'm just wondering if this could be a lupus thing, rather than a virus that I picked up?

Has anyone experienced bronchitis-like symptoms that just don't go away? My lupus is active right now too. I'm feeling poopy all over.

Thanks! (cough, cough)

Ginny, yes it could very well be from lupus. Hopefully it isn't. However once you lose your lungs you can't get theme back. I don't know how many people but barb and I are both on o2 24/7. you don't want to go there. Run.......do not walk to your nearest pulmonologist. I didn't see a pulm. for 6 years after I got sick with my breathing. My dr. kept saying it was ashma. Finally I saw a pulm. he said throw everything away it isn't asthma. By than it was too late.

please see someone and pressure them to take a good look. Don't let them blow you off.

Thanks ladies

I put a call into my rheumatologist this morning. She's very good and will take my concerns seriously.

Are your sinuses affected as well? I have the goopiest, most disgusting sinuses. I'm only coughing to clear the junk in my lungs, otherwise I don't have a cough.

I'll keep you posted!

Good please tell her you want to see a pulm. ya know what I never cough. the test said I have the lungs of a 121.1 year old woman. and I never cough. Of course if I was that old I probably would be to tired to cough. I don't got no goopies either though. I hardly ever get a cold. I just go staight to pnemonia. I sure hope it is only a bad case of bronchitis. Even that is not good since the lupus may try to go in and clear it up and not know when to stop. Ya know? Let us know what you find out.

Thank you Carol (((((((hugs))))))))

I will definitely let you know. Whether it's lupus or bronchitis, it's bad. I feel really weak. I just went for a walk and I couldn't do it. I walked for a half hour and came home needing my inhaler. I've NEVER had breathing issues before. This is all new to me. I hate it!

Hope your day is going well Carol. How have you been?

love you too!

Hi Ginny. I'm so sorry you're feeling poopy. I hope your rheumy can help.  Regarding sinus goop, I'm seeing my ENT today to consent to sinus surgery. I've developed a hole in my sinuses (that's not supposed to be there) which has caused a small pond filled with scum (bacteria). I've been on different antibiotics for months, but the super scum always wins. For over the counter treatment my ENT gave me a sample of Ocean Spray. Doc says neti pots only make things worse. Ocean Spray is a pressurized can of saline that irrigates the sinuses. So you may want to try it. I'm sending you gentle sprays of positive energy wink Love ya, Donna

Ginny, it's cause for concern and I hope you have it checked out soon. If you don't use a Neti Pot to clean your sinuses every day, please get one. You can find them at any grocery store. They work wonders and keep all the whatever out of your sinuses. As far as the bronchitis, I hope that's not affecting your lungs permanently. Please let us know what your doctor says.

And get better soon!!!

Thanks for all the concern!

I saw my internal medicine specialist this morning and she had my chest xray results. Shows some mild congestion in the right lung. I'm much better today than I was even a couple days ago. I only used my inhaler once today. Nose is remarkably better too. I think I'm on the mend!

She isn't too concerned about this and believes it is just a nasty virus and with me being immune suppressed, it just took this long to to its job.

I'm still flaring with my lupus though. I feel pretty lousy. Fluish, headache, hip pain, fatigue. All that lovely stuff. So I'll stay on 25mg of pred for another week.

If this cough starts up again I'll let ya know!!

Blessings!
