Sorry Amy, I 'm not sure the cardiac cripple would make her feel better or worse! LOL
Hey stacie I had one done. The put it in my vein in my leg. It wasn't a big deal and I wasn't knocked out. just a local. the worst part was pushing it in the artery on the inside of my leg. Other than that they have you lay still in recovery for quite awhile. you have to keep pressure on the wound. They put a plug in it when they are done and you will have a lump on your leg for a few weeks as the plug melts into your body. Make sure you don't have to pee cuz they won't let ya up.
let us know your tough you can do it.
love ya

Amy it was sweet of you to start this thread. I hope your dad is doing well.

Stacie you're in my prayers....I had one done too, and Okie's right, they put a 10-lb sandbag on me and kept me flat on my back for HOURS afterwards. It was a fairly easy procedure for me; Carol described it very well. I actually enjoyed watching on the computer screens as they threaded the little thing through my arteries!

Stacie, I've been out of town and missed this. So sorry you're going through this and it's good to hear that others here have had the procedure and say it's manageable. You'll be in my prayers & I'll be anxious to hear how things go.

Love,

Pat

Hi Stacie,
I hope your heart cath. went well this morning. I've had a couple of them myself. Hopefully, you are home resting now and will recover quickly. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Love ya, Babs

Oh Amy I was just teasing you I thought it was funny. I see so much pain on here some times that searching for something to laugh about makes this disease a little more barable. oh and mine was right next to my groin too.

Thank you Amy, Carol, JoAnn, Pat & Babs,

Everything went well, no blockages, thank the Lord. My vessels in the top left part of my heart are smaller than the others (just the way God made me) and that is why it was showing less blood flow. He said the chest pains are probably coming from lupus. The procedure itself wasn't that bad, I don't guess. I thought I would have been knocked out a little more with the twilight drug but he was hesitant on giving me too much because my BP runs so low. Carol you are right it was a little uncomfortable when he was ramming the cath into my leg cry but the worst part for me was my right hip started killing me a couple of minutes before the procedure was over, tears streaming down my face, they gave me a little something for the pain but it didn't help much and then of course having to lay down and not bend that leg for 2 hours didn't help matters either. This evening it's still painful but I'll be ok.

Thank you all for your prayers!
Stacie

I feel your pain. My daughter was recently diagnosed after 3 years of being sick and visiting numerous specialists. She kept catching every little thing, has many mouth sores, seizures, extreme tiredness, and recently started with joint pain and swelling. She is always tired. Mornings are always the worst for her. The doctors kept treating her symptoms and not the cause. After visting one rheumotolgist who basically dismissed us, we found another one who on our first visit said this is lupus. She ran extensive blood work and it backs up her thought. My daughter was just diagnosed this week. She has an awful time, and most days are bad for her. I'm hoping the plaqunil will help her. Right now, she has low blood sugar (58) and low thyroid t3 as well. The rheumotologist feels it's the lupus causing it. I have learned that you have to be your own child's advocate. Find a doctor that will listen and help you.

Thank you everyone!!!

My hip is finally feeling better, still taking it easy especially after I pulled a muscle near the incision last night, thought I would die! After about an hour or so it loosened up, doctor said to take it easy the rest of the weekend. If it's not one thing it's another!!!

Thank you again for all of your prayers and support, I really appreciate it!

My cardio appt went ok this morning, at this point they are blaming all the chest pains on lupus which is good I guess. It means there is nothing wrong with my heart but what the heck is going on. As we all know Lupus can cause inflammation in the chest wall, etc. I asked her how I would know if it was my heart instead of inflammation, she said to really pay attention to how I feel and my fatigue levels. etc. I do still have to wear the heart monitor for 2 1/2 weeks and go back to see the cardio on April 20th after that the next follow up will be in 6 months. She increased the med to slow down my heart, that's about it for now. I see my rheumy on 4/13 maybe I will learn more then.

Thank you ALL for your support, prayers, encouraging words, everything! smilewinkgrin

Stacie, with so much going on with me I never got around to posting here for you. I am so sorry. I am very glad your test went well and hope that the heart monitior continues to give good results instead of scary ones. I had forgotten my old rhemuy said there were more false positive results that ended up with a cath in women with the nuclear stress test. She never said why I just remembered that she said that when mine went fine.

That's ok Redrose, I know you've had a lot going on. I read the same thing about false positives, but for me the reason my test came back abnormal was because the vessels in that part of my heart were smaller than the others, so it appeared to be less blood flow. All is ok and I am very thankful! Praying all is well with you and your family!
