I keep getting horrible chest pains....i have MCTD...consant plurisy...and am four weeks into plaquenil use....my heart checks out great after ekg and echocardiogram...anyone know if plurisy does this??? Got so bad tonight it was aweful....very apprehensive to ever go to ER...at the point i figure no one ever does anything about my problems...just prescribe more meds. I am not on any steroids at this point...whenever i go on them I am fine until two days I am off them it all comes back. Any thoughts ..... I will see rheumy tomorrow and am getting to the point of trying to educate myself so I know what to ask of him....instead of him just telling me things! Please keep in mind I'm very new to all this...diagnosed only 6 months ago.
Just diagnosed Mixed Connective Tissue Disease...March...all started 5 months prior

Hi lori, Well I am glad that you have had and ekg and they don't think it's that. I think when ever we get pains in our chest the first thing we think is heart attack. Well I guess I should say a lot of people do. You might be right on the money with pluerisy. It sounds like a good possibility. Just make sure you really push this with your rhummy and don't let them think it's probably gas or something. it's too bad about the predisone since the thing is works best for is inflamation. We tend to suffer from that constantly all over our body and really need something to help with it. As for the plaqu. it can take up to 6 months to get  results from it. It comes on suttle. All of the sudden you will realize that something you have been living with for thepast year isn't there anymore but you can't really remember when it stopped bothering you. I hope that makes since.

looking forward to hearing what the doctor has to say.

please keep us informed

Hi Lori, I've had a terrible bout of pleurisy and chest pains since the beginning of Feb. Pred really helped the pleurisy and I've gone through test after test for the chest pains. I had chest pain from the pleurisy and a different chest pain. which I had checked out thoroughly, luckily my docs took me serious. Definitely talk to your doctor and like Carol said don't let them blow this off as gas or something crazy like that. I can tell you lupus can cause inflammation in your chest wall which will cause chest pains but your doctors should be able to rule everything else out and give you some straight answers. Let us know what your doc says.
